Remote Start Solution

I may have stumbled upon the first remote start solution for the 2nd generation mini's.

http://ifar.ca/en/products/int_serie.../vehicles.html

I am going to check into more, but want to see if anyone else out there has a remote start installed yet.

It can be done. See attached instruction. The two modules cost $300 total.

Is anyone else having a problem opening the Installation Guide? My program says there is an error opening file. Bad Encrypt Dictionary.

I was curious if this remote start somehow worked with a manual transmission?

Thanks, Rich

Just thru reading the installation guide and the website there are a few little thing people must also have.

1. Only for vehicles with Automatic Transmition.
2. Extra key - they say you must have a valet key. And this key must be mounted in the car at all times.

When i picked up my Clubman and asked about the Valet key as there was not one supplied. I was told there is not "Valet" key only full keys are available. Key cost is $285.00 plus programing charges so that it will work with your car.

Now from some other reading i did on other BMW forums this item is only the interface module between a remote car started and the MINI/BMW. This seems to indicate that the cost just jumped significantly again.

So from what i have read. (I will be calling the manufacturer later today to discuss the details) It seems you need the following

1. INT-BMW1 $300.00
2. CAN-SL2 $100.00
3. Valet Key $285.00
4. Remote Starter $100.00

For a total of $785+ this seems very expensive.

I will report back after speaking with the manufacturer.

I'm looking forward to hearing what they say. I'm not interested in getting one, but my mother-in-law didn't believe me when I told her that it can't be done, and that even if it could it'd be over $1,000 to get it installed. I have a heated garage and the car warms up pretty quick anyway, especially with those heated seats.
