I checked on the status of my car. It said that Kazzie arrived at the VDC sometime around either Friday or Saturday last week. What's the likely waiting period before she finally is put on a transporter and sent to the dealer? Can anyone give an estimated time? One week or possibly 10-12 days?

I got mine a week after it hit port

 

I'd say about two weeks.

 

Mine hit the NYC VDC on a Saturday.
Sport Stripes installed at the VDC
Arrived at my dealer in MD on Wednesday.
Took delivery that Friday.

 

Richs10, that still amazes me - the MINI gods and their planets were definitely in alignment for you. I know, you got it really within a week, give or take, but it still had to get to Maryland...and what with the NJ Turnpike and all , it is still impressive.

I still can't believe it only took 25 days from the date of my Order until Delivery. I suspect there is actually a secret MINI factory somewhere in Baltimore that they haven't told us about.

This was the first car (in a long line of cars) that I ordered from the factory. All others have been off the lot. I think I am definately spoiled now!

 

BTW, Otra, I am so jealous of your new upcoming Clubman. I have seen pictures of the roof rails and would sure like to have them on mine. I keep thinking they make the car look like a little surf wagon. Make sure you post some pics when you get it!!

I was hoping the rails might be available in the future as an aftermarket add-on, but I then read of all the complications (side airbags, etc) that could arise from trying to drill through the roof to attach them. Guess they have to wait for my next Clubman.

 

I had the priviledge of touring the Port Jersey VDC in April of this year. They can process up to 400 cars per day (BMW, MINI, Rolls). It is possible for them to get a car from a boat to a transport truck on the same day, although that is not typical.

If there are no issues with your car and no VDC work to be performed, it should be ready for transport generally within two days from arrival. Allow time for travel from VDC to your dealer (don't know where you are located). Your dealer then needs a day or two to prep the car. so you could be motoring by the weekend!

 

Aww, thanks Rich, I'm excited, too. Perhaps one of these times we're down in your motoring ground, we can meet up and you can see my new rails in real life. I'm interested in finding out more about where you got your "FrongGuard Clear Bra" put on down around that area. I'll send you a PM on that one.

The great thing about MINIs and now especially the Clubman, because it is so new and is just that much larger than the hatchback, is that it should hold its value well.

P.S. Rich, that's right your whole anticipation waiting game was one of the shortest ever for an ordered MINI! I'd forgotten that. I also actually thought that MINIs were also off loaded in Baltimore for you guys down in Maryland and the Mid Atlantic states - maybe there is a secret factory/VDC somewhere in the Inner Harbor?
P.P.S. It turns out that my MA is off this week, and even if my new "exchange" Clubman were to arrive by Friday, I think I'd prefer to wait... My MA and I have been through a lot together.

Our Clubman came into the Port Hueneme on Sunday and by Wednesday it was on a truck to LV, and I believe it showed up there Thursday morning. We fly out tomorrow to pick it up...

 

So funny! Last night, we went to our local dealer's grand opening and they had surfboards on almost every one of the MINIs in the showroom...and we are in Michigan! My husband agreed that they did look really great with surfboards on top - like they were made to carry one. Gave them all such a casual, "I'm-just-heading-to-the-beach-to-catch-some-waves...dudes" sort of look. Really a good selling point, until you stop to think that we're about 12 hr from the ocean.

 

Yes, it was. It was right after the NY Auto show, and all of the show cars were there, including the R56 JCW MINI Challenge. You could sit inside!

Also onsite were hundreds of the damaged cars from the Courage. If you recall, the ship listed at sea in January and trashed nearly all of the initial shipment of 1 Series and M3's.

y'all are lucky to get yr cars so fast-- those of us in the far reaches of BMW's western division, Seattle and Denver, have to wait the longest. Our boat Isolde left SH on 9/29, and hasnt even hit the canal yet (scheduled for transit t'row.) Supposed to be in PH 10/25. If Im lucky I'll have my car hopefully by the Vet Day holiday weekend, if there are no blizzards or ??? from CA to CO. Total wait from ordering to delivery: 120 days.

sounds like the PH VDC is cranking cars out pretty fast, and the ship and delivery process is much more efficient than when I ordered Rodney 4 years ago.

 

I think what originally put the Surf idea in my head were the aluminum foot pedal covers on my S. They look like little surf boards.

 

Hi, I ordered my new 09 Clubbie on 10/2/08. I live near Buffalo NY.

I checked the MINI website today and it's now finished and awaiting transport!!!!

This is my 3rd MINI but the 1st I had to order. Bought the previous 2 off the lot.


What was your wait time between awaiting transport and en route?

Good question, I guess it depends on the boats schedules. Outta curiosity, the MINIs come into where? S Carolina? New York? What determines what port they come into? Just wondering. Mine too is awaiting transportation according to MINIUSA, but dealer tells me it's already on the boat as per the wife. I'll try to find out more tomorrow.

 

Depends on the dealership location in relation to the VDC. MINI's can process through any of them here in the US.

Your dealer will have access to slightly more current info than the MINUSA website.

 

I just found out today that my new Clubbie was loaded on the Independence II on 10/16/08 and is scheduled to arrive @ VDC on 10/27.

I placed the order on 10/2 and there is a chance I may have it by the end of the month or 1st week of November!!!

What exactly would qualify as "work to be performed" once a car hits the VDC???

Many dealer installed accessories are actually installed at the VDC.
