Pictures of Yakima or Thule Roof Bike Rack on the OEM MINI Roof Rack?

Does anyone has pictures of Yakima or Thule Roof Bike Rack on the OEM Clubman (or Cooper) Base Roof Rack System? Or should I get one from OEM?

Thanks

Don't feel forced to go OEM. They all work fine. With Thule and Yakima stuff, you may need an adapter. Check the Rack on Clubman thread for more pictures. Here is a photo of a Thule Big Mouth on my OEM rack.

Thule Criterium bike rack

Has any attempted to use the Thule Criterium Bike Rack with the R56 OEM Base Mount Racks? It's seems there may be a required adapter from Thule but I've since sent them an email to ask. I did find this though http://www.thuleracks.com/instructio...%20Xadapt8.pdf It seems as if the Thule Aero Bar is similar/same to the OEM bar used by Mini.

I've not purchased the OEM rack which is why I'm asking to confirm compatibility. I already own the Thule Criterium.

Any help is appreciated!

Is the OEM rack pretty sturdy? I noticed that it was substantially less expensive than some other racks I've looked at from Yakima, etc.

I thought I had read in another thread that the Base Roof Rack of the MINI was made by Thule. If so, I'd imagine using it with just about anything made by Thule should be just fine.

edit: According to Surfink (2nd post of the second page of the linked thread), the Base Roof Rack Bars are Thule Aero Bars.

In reality Thule does not make the rook rack for the 2nd Gen Mini. They used to make the rack for the 1st Gen but Mini went to another company in Germany to get the 2nd Gen racks made as OEM.

Now one thing about the cross bar is that it is very close to the Thule Aero Bar but is slightly larger and has a little more room in the slot where the bike or other racsk woudl fit and thus require home made peices to work well. Some of the Thule mounts will work but many wil not grab inside the slot properly.

When I grab the crossbars and shake them, I engage the suspension on the car, same as if I pushed on the rain gutter or lifted up on a bumper. There is absolutely no "play". I don't believe it is possible to be more solid than that.

I highly recommend the Rack on Clubman thread (glorious saga that it was). If you can wander through, there are discussions on installation dos and don'ts, integration with Thule and Yakima accessories, etc.

If you do buy the OEM rack, you'll find supplemental installation instructions at the top of the Clubman forum.

Schatzy62, I tried the Thule components in my rack and they fit fine. No home made pieces necessary here. I was told the rack was from Thule by the Thule representative who was @ REI when I was there..

I have the thule and have no issues at all. If I pull on the rack I can actually rock the MINI back and forth. Here is a pic

I elected to go with a rack that I could remove for track/autox events. Additionally I did not want to drill any holes in the roof.

Cheers

Hi- I have the oem rack on my 2009 clubbie, and when the rack came it was in a MINI box with THULE in small letters. Naturally it doesn't say anything about THULE on the racks themselves...
Just thought I'd add this minor bit of trivia...

Cool. I've been debating on getting it over a Yakima, as it's quite a bit cheaper. I had some problems with my Saris strap on rack rubbing some clear coat off the boot. I figure a removable roof rack would be better on the paint. Thanks man!
