M7 coilovers:

ARE the BOMB ......... the car feels soo much better and controlled. I have it sittting about 1.25" lower than stock and the ride is perfect. Its not all choppy or stiff like I was worried about. I can take corners at such a greater speed now than before.

Where did you get them? I am worried about the ride quality. I have a mustang with Steeda suspension and its pretty harsh. Wouldn't want the same to happen.

you can get them from M7 directly.. Did you read what I wrote in the post "Its not all choppy or stiff like I was worried about"... They are great, much better than the stock sport suspension...

  • yes it is very obvious that the car is lower, (well, to a clubman owner you can tell...)
  • yes it lowers the car all around, about 1.25" and it is level. With the M7 coilovers you can adjust the ride height to what you are looking for..
  • as for pics, I am not ready to take them yet. I want to finish it up before I post any..

Glad to hear another clubman is getting lowered properly. They look so bad at stock ride height

This is probably a dumb question but what is the difference between the coilover system and the spring system with H&R? And is the price difference between the M7 system and the H&R warranted? Is the ride quality that much different? Just trying to learn. Thanks...

H&R's = $250
M7 = $1500

I have not ridden in a H&R equipped car, but yes I can pretty much tell you the M7's wioll ride 100x times better. I had the sport suspension & the M7's ride is MUCHO better, much more smooth. From what I have read the sprins actually stiffen the ride quality even more than the sport. Plus you can pretty much kiss your shocks good-bye after a year or so.

Wow. I thought (what I get for thinking... ) that the H&R system was more like $600 to $800. Either way, I guess I'll look more into the M7 system but put it off for when I win the lotto.

It's also height adjustable. With springs you are unable to adjust the heigh...you're stuck with a 1.2" drop.

The M7's allow height adjustment as well as damping adjustment to change the stiffness of the shocks.

The problem with lowering springs is that they lose some suspension travel so the ride is much stiffer than a set of coilovers.

Rally,

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense and sounds like the right thing to do. One question - where on the car do you make your adjustment to ride height? Is it at the shocks or under the hood. How does that work? As you can tell, I'm a total novice when it comes to this stuff.

Have M7 Coilovers also, what a world of difference, have the ride height maxed out as the road quality around me sucks, couldn't be happier.

on each shock, the shock tower is threaded so you can adjust the rise height.
