Why a Clubman?

MY JCW HT got pushed back a week and I have been reading this thread and the Clubman now has become a viable option vs the HT.

What made you decide to go with the Clubman vs the HT? It is my understanding it will be slower but may have a better ride???? I could not find any pics of a JCW Clubman in this link.

Why a Clubman? They all want to come along for the ride.

Like Barley, dogs. Antiques, gardening, and home improvement. And most of my friends are now of an age that climbing into the back of an R56 would be uncomfortable. The slightly longer wheelbase and the clubdoor really make a difference there.

For what it's worth, I saw the JCW Clubman launch version at my local dealer, and it was gorgeous inside and out: CR/B, sport stripes, alcantara steering wheel, yummy. MINI of Dallas has one on its website. It's listed as a CR/B "justa" Clubman, but in the photos you can see the JCW brakes and badging: http://www.miniofdallas.com/VehicleDetails/1085277544.

Good luck!

For the extra room - for carrying things w/seats up or down, for a long trip when one needs to bring more belongings and for the ability to actually have average sized people sit in the back seats without having to move the front seat up to the windshield.

Definitely a smoother ride but it handles just as well.

I will admit that I do think the MC is cuter.

Easy to fit the weekly grocery shopping in the little bigger trunk area and when I actually carry adult passengers the "jump-door" makes it easier for them to get in, A caveat, the "grandmothers" still don't like climbing into the back even with the "jump-door."

P.S. The ride is a little softer with the longer wheelbase and the standard suspension, I do 600 mile days without a problem.

I was so happy when MINI came out with the Clubman! I've wanted a MINI for many years, but I have 3 Labradors, and I needed something that could hold all 3 for roadtrips.

Now I have a super fun car for the abundant twisties in my area, and a functional car for roadtrips with the pups!

They love riding in the back on their Poochstyle mat!

+1,

Dog, camping space, girlfriend can sleep with the dong on long night trips. Just a lot more space in a car that is just 9.5" longer

Clubman...

The Clubman is growing on me...I had doubts at first but I'm starting to like it better than our MCSa HT.

Ditto! Except I have one Dalmatian, not three Labradors . I honestly prefer the look of the Clubman to the HT, too...it just suits my personality better.

Oh, and the extra space will be very helpful if/when we have to load up for an evacuation.

Well...it seems everybody buys the clubbie for their dogs I however have a different story. I have 4 kids and need to be able to move some of them along with accessories like a bag of soccer *****. I have also always liked the MINI but was just too small. Cllubman is just right.
Cheers,
John

I always wanted a MINI but with 2 kids, it just wasn't practical. Now that the kids are a bit older (11 and 8) and I am not lugging them around as much, the Clubman made perfect sense. That scootch of extra space with the fun and fuel economy of the coupe. Perfect solution for us as a family.

And um schatzy....you owe me a keyboard, I just spit cofee all over mine!

I don't have kids or dogs. I bought a Clubman because it has a better ride, is less twitchy, has more room, and looks different (and also better IMO).

Thanks

P.S 3 Labs in a clubman, i drove one but didn't actually think there was that much room.

Why a clubbie? The extra back seat room means my daughters don't complain about legroom and I get to stretch my legs out, too.

Great responses. It looks like I may need to get a dog to join the Clubman club.

I went w/ a Clubman for the wagon look! I've always had a thing for wagons since High School. Now I can combine an awesome car w/ a wagon!

Nah, it's not a prerequisite! We'll let you join the club regardless .

I have been always fond of the 57 Chevy Nomad. I also always liked Mini Coopers, but as others have stated it has space issues. So the Clubman is kind of like mixing peanut butter & chocolate. A good mix of both.

I felt that for fitting people, things, and safety the extra 10 inches were worth it.

Basically I was shopping in subcompact territory, with the Scion xD and the Honda Fit, but suddenly, there was a fast little wagon that was within a few inches in length of those vehicles, with fuel economy that didn't take a hit.

I was given an MCS hatch loaner and when I had positioned the seat to where I was comfortable, there was 2 inches between the rear seat and the back of my seat. Not good for carrying people
