I wanted a MCS but I wanted the extra space and the clubman filled that need. Plus it actually does look pretty cool!

Extra space and I really do prefer the proportions and balance of the Clubman.

Hilarious! Made me do a second take as well -- can't think of a better reason to get a Clubman. But for me it was my dogs who ordered mine and also so that we could use it for the weekend getaways.

I needed more room for the Greyhounds. I had measured the MCS, but it wasn't big enough for Captain Morgan (in my sig) . I got on the Clubman list 2 years before its release and it was worth every minute of the wait. Captain Morgan doesn't want to get in it but Mai Tai, my Grey girl loves it. I take her to the vet in it when they need her as a blood donor. Kind of appropriate that it is Chili Red.

Yep, with the back seats down, there's plenty of room for 'em!

Kids. Enough said. If I wanted a two seater I would buy a Cabrio anyway.

I for one don't see the purpose of the REGULAR Mini.

Everytime I read the title, I think "why not a clubman!" Look at all of us crazies who own one!

Exactly! rasputinj wanted the MCS, but we need the leg space for our kiddo...and maybe a dog one day? Plus the MCC is cooler looking!

I wanted to put golf clubs in the back (with the behind-driver-seat folded down) while leaving a child seat in stalled in the "bazooka" position. In the hatch I had to put my clubs in the front passenger seat unless I wanted to remove the child seat. That way I couldn't have 2 adults in the car plus golf clubs.

BTW the extra wheelbase make the ride alot smoother. The turn-in isn't quite as quick but I think that adds stability at speed. That said I think the clubman rotates better than the hatch.

I opined about my reason for choosing a Clubman in this old thread. Now, after the first month of ownership, I'm getting great mileage, the insurance is reasonable, we've gone to dinner with the wives in the backseat without complaint (apologies to the female owners... ), and the grins don't stop. We're on vacation in it right now, and had enough stuff in the back that the Beverly Hillbillies would have been impressed.

We like.

I think having dong and 9.5" in the same post can get you thrown out of NAM. Check the user agreement.

Oh... shoot.

Because the back seat has enough room to fit something larger than adult crickets?

Cuz 2 Cabrio's and 2 kids made taking one car unfeasible. Now we can all ride together again even though only one of us can drive when we do... On top of that now that I have lowered it the ride is so much better without the body roll that it feels like my cabrio used to but with better mileage, more torque, more HP, and bit more refinement when hitting the turns on the track. Love this car :-)

Why have a "regular" MINI..... NO KIDS, NO DOGS...... Personally, if I wanted a WAGON, I would buy an all wheel/4 wheel drive wagon.
What's nice is to have the choice God knows we're selling ALOT of Clubman but I can't stand the looks of it!

Reasons: Flat load floor in back, Real roof rails and 170lb'ish load system, smoother ride of the longer wheel base, and better proportions in my opinion.

I never even considered a Cooper until I read that the Clubman was being produced. Consciously or unconsciously that gave me the green light to go out shopping. One test drive sold me. I have an eleven year old and needed a car that could take him, a friend and musical instruments to school. Heck, I might even do the grocery shopping now and then. I love my Clubman. (Shhh. Don't tell the wife).

i've always wanted a Mini but the hatch is completely impractical. I would have needed two cars, and that's just silly.

I'm a musician and have always needed to sacrifice having a "cool" car for the simple fact of being practical. Amps and guitars don't fit in a 2 door sports car.

Then the Clubman came out. Best of both worlds!! And to be honest I actually kinda like the look compared to the normal cooper hatch.. i think the hatch looks kinda "squashed". The fact the rear seats are actually useable and quite comfortable is awesome - and with the seats folded, I can fit all my gear with room to spare.

Woohoo!! Finally I can have what i would class as a sports car (well, sort of!) and still have the ability to throw all my gear in the back. No more "why did you buy an old family man station wagon" comments from friends!! Kinda disheartening when I'm only 31 ;( lol.

I've had mine for about a month and so far I'm still finding excuses to go for a drive.

;-)
