Chrome Line Exterior- Yes?? No??

I've a PW/PW Clubman S being built in Week 37.
Last bit to do is a decision on chrome line exterior.
I like the little trim bits but not sure about the chromed mirrors?

Whacha Think? Not many pix of chrome line clubbies either.

I love (and chose) chrome mirrors. See my gallery for pics. Bottom line is that if you really dislike the chrome down the road, it is easy to put something else on the mirrors. Get the chrome mirrors!

Regards,
Terry

I say chrome it!

The chrome line exterior is gorgeous on MINIs and I've always admired it.

I'm not a fan on the mirrors, but I do say definitely go for the chrome line on the interior. I am kicking myself for not getting that!!!

I chose "no" because I didn't like the chrome nubbins on the rear bumper. I actually do like the chrome mirrors, though.

If you don't like the Chrome Mirrors some dealers are willing to swap them out for you at delivery time.

You should be able to retrofit this rather easily I think ... my missing pieces were installed by the dealers prep dep't ... so I can't imagine it being to hard to order a set and install it.

no idea what it would cost though.

What they want to charge me should be called rape.

All I really want is the tach, speedo, and 4 air vents on the dash. I wish they just popped off and I could do it myself.

You can get the chrome mirrors separate from the chrome trim bits at the factory for $100. If you get the whole chrome package it's $250.

For the S the only extra chrome looks to be a ring around the lower front grill and the two little bumper grills on the rear bumper. If there is more then I'd sure like to know. Seems like a waste of $$.

For the non-S there is also chrome at the fog lights and the rear nubbies on the back bumper.

My wife got the full exterior chrome package on her PW cabrio (not a Clubman, I know, but same colour as the one you're ordering). I think the chrome accents against the off-white body give the car a very classic look, kind of reminiscent of the old MGBs or Austin-Healeys.

Also, I believe that if you order the chrome exterior package, the car actually arrives at the dealer with the "normal" parts installed, and the dealer actually installed the chrome replacements, so if there's any particular part of the chrome kit you don't want, you can ask the dealer to leave it off.

In Europe chrome line exterior doesn't include the mirrors... they are a standalone option.

Thank god :p

I am pleased with the chrome package. Although it looks great, on the chrome grill the only airflow is through the bottom slat. The rest of the back of the grill is solid. When the driving lights and JCW grill were added on my Mini there was a noticeable difference and things cooled off considerably.

I'd say YES! I think the chrome accents PW beautifully.

I did not do the exterior chrome line but rather just added chrome mirrors. My advice would be to order the mirrors after. My MA told me he did that on his. If you don't like them you can at least swap them out with the OEM ones.

I say YES to the chrome!

My husband still just shakes his head at me and says that's one Southern trait he wishes I DIDN'T have. But I love it. I always respond by singing "Her favorite color is...CHROME..."

Like others have said, talk to the dealer about the option of leaving the chrome mirror caps off. Surely they can do that for ya!

I am very pleased with the chromeline interior and exterior. It adds a high quality finish to the inside and out.

I say yes to chrome. I think my chrome mirrors give Spike a little extra bling to make him different than the other Chile Reds with white roofs.

For the most part, I'm a chrome fan. I could do without those little back nubs being chrome - but the rest I love because I feel they give the MINI a more classic car look. I really wish they'd kept the chrome bumper inserts they used to have on the MINI. I had them on my '04 and was quite sad when they were "retired".

As lurch pointed out, many dealers will swap out the chrome mirrors for some black ones if you prefer them.

As with all options - it comes down to taste, and we all know there's no accounting for taste.

Ours has the chrome kit but the dealer forgot to install the chrome mirror caps. We decided it looked better without the chrome mirrors, so we stayed with the paint on them. We have the rest of the chrome thought....around the lower grill and inside.
