Exactly, mike and his mini said it! It's just less money you pay when your new car arrives. Unless $$ is an issue, I don't see the problem. I think some people are so caught up with haggling that it's hard to understand that some of us just don't care enough or have the time to haggle over everything. To each her own!

They're crazy! I bet people will drive out of state to get one. I almost considered doing this myself.

At least in Cali the markup scheme and add on junk (lojack/nitrogen in tires) seems to be going strong. I only found a few dealers willing to haggle on the 3-5K Clubman markup. Flying out to LV, having to do a get a smog check, register at the DMV will be worth it for myself and HTClubman to get our vehicle in November. LV Mini processed our deposit so I think we are on for week 40 production.

Just talked to Dennis today. Soonest I can get my Clubman would be December 1. I think I'll stick to South Bay.

international autos, inc. in milwaukee, wi is msrp.

of course, then again, i came in with a pre-configured model + the consumer reports cost info in hand. only my non-factory installed accessories had a price other than what the mini web site lists, and the installation costs were pretty reasonable.

Just ordered my Clubman S from the new, not-quite-open-yet Sharpe dealership in Grand Rapids, MI and they are charging MSRP with no added dealer fees (at least none that I've noticed yet...). I had to pay a $500 deposit, which doesn't seem too bad, and they've been really good to deal with so far. Of course, I don't have a build week yet, nor a production number...but I'm hopeful they are right about a late Oct/early Nov delivery!

I always write "refundable" on the deposit receipt, both copies.

And a small ($500 or $1000) refundable deposit can be a good thing, on something that you want to buy.

Deutch - why don't you edit your first post to reflect the info you're receiving. Wading through 4 pages of info is counter productive.

Palm Harbor MINI of Tampa Bay: MSRP + dealer prep. Didn't try to beat them down on the dealer prep so I'm not sure if it's negotiable or not.

Hello from the greater Philly area, I test drove a mini ( okay I test drove like 3 different mini's) and am totally hooked. I am now just waiting for the timing to be right so I get my clubman closer to when my February lease is up.
I think the wait is going to kill me,,,,, I really liked Otto's in W. Chester. Can you tell me who you dealt with? I am working with Holly and she is super.
Did you get free mats?? Have you had any experiences with their service department yet??
Thank goodness for this forum, it just may make my wait bearable!

I am working with Michelle (she is the one with the desk covered in MINI stuff) One of my friends had gone through her for his MINI and really liked working with her. I didnt get mats free maybe because I was already planning to buy them (hopefully they will throw in the boot mat for free to match) No MINI yet so no experience with the service dpt. I just know I couldnt wait till Feb. Waiting till the end of Sept/early Oct is killing me.

I literally debated paying off my current SUV to get a mini sooner but my husband totally put a damper on that one!! I am not a patient person and this will make for a looong 6 months!
For now I have a mini all spec'd out but now I am playing like crazy on the configurator,,who knows how many times I will change it before it is over!
Thanks for the info!

That is great, when I dealt with LB Mini, they wanted 3k over invoice and I said no thank you... Especially when South Bay mini was closer. But we then cancelled at South Bay Mini to get the clubman sooner at Mini of LV.

Rasmussen MINI

[FONT=Arial]Rasmussen MINI in Portland charge $300 over MSRP. They are very 'proud' of being the only monopoly mini dealer in Oregon. They basically said, 'we are the only dealer in the state and we can charge whatever we want. Too bad, you want a mini and you have to pay extra....'

Bless you alex5w...but try coming to California where most dealships charge between $3 and $5K...significantly more than Rasmussen (no relation by the way - that's my last name)...so be thankful (plus you pay no sales tax). Rasputinj and I went to another state (Nevada) from California to get our new Clubman at MSRP...it can always be worse...glass is half full!!!

When I placed my order on July 05, It was M.S.R.P. at Princeton BMW/MINI.
If they wanted a dealer mark up I would have told them where to stick the car!

It's funny how no one complains when a dealer has to unload a model for thousands less than MSRP, but everyone becomes enraged when dealers charge more than MSRP. If you don't want to buy the car for more than MSRP, then don't. Dealers are in business to make money, and they have a limited supply of vehicles to work with that are in great demand, so some are maximizing their profit on every unit sold by adding on to the MSRP. It's not an evil practice, or unethical, or illegal, it's just capitalism.
