R55 1 mile on the clock!

1 mile on the clock!
I have NEVER bought a car with 1 mile on the clock, until today.
ONE MILE! How could they drive it off the line, on to a truck, around the port, on and off the ship, around the VPC and off the truck again and be only a mile?!?
Unfortunately, I don't think I have ever bought a car without bringing my camera, until today
Actually, I think when the cars are made there are even less than a mile on them. When the odometer rolls at the mile mark the trip odometer already has that mile PLUS 2/10th of a mile more on it!
But, I guess that lack of milage would explain the forgetting to program the daytime running lights... the car wasn't used enough for anyone to notice.

2) Thanks! Now that I commute all of 11 miles round trip daily I am going to have to find another way to put miles on the car (My wife has 12k on her Clubman, March delivery!) I figure with the Landy in the driveway for fun and rough weather drives I might do 3000 miles, a year, on this S!
I sense another road trip coming. Want to come, or is that another thread?

I don't it's that they are "resetting" the mileage so to speak- I believe it has something to do with the MINI's computer not recognizing the mileage until "something" (I'm not sure what) is done at the dealership. So, you may see your car immediately as it rolls off the truck at the dealership, and it may have 0 miles on the odo. But, when they "program", or whatever, the computer before delivery, the actual mileage will show.
That's how I understand it, however, it is not uncommon for me to be wrong.

Our dealer is sooooo good. After the "orientation" the salesperson (I refuse to use the term MA) rides with you to the local gas station and lets you fill it up on their card...that's good stuff, free gas and a test ride so to speak. The wife (it's her car) was impressed and it kinda took the edge off of driving it the first time.

There is no way a car could have 0 miles at time of delivery. The cars arrive from port with like a gallon of gas. If the dealer fills the tank thats at least .5 miles and then the tech has to drive the car for a touch to make sure everything is running smoothly. The dealer cannot reset the mileage to 0 when it arrives. Are you sure you guys are looking at the actual odometer and not the trip meter?

I sat in my car right off the truck. It had 0 on the odometer, yes I know the difference between the odometer and the trip. Yes I know what a zero looks like in Arabic numerals.
