Clubman S vs. 330xi

So my buddy posed a challenge against his 330xi. Who will win out 0-60? He actually posted a thread on a BMW forum. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...php?p=13771735
Even the other BMW owners think that the Clubman will school a 330
Once my engine is broken in this race is so on. I'm sure we'll post it on YouTube. Any of the local NE's want to watch?

Did you even read the thread?

Even the BMW guys give you proof. 330i - 6.9 sec Clubman S 6.7

Unless the Clubman driver sucks, the Clubman should win.

My buddy lives in Southern Maine and I near Worcester, so we'll try and find a spot in the middle.

If you're in a place where the speed limit is 60, can you get a ticket for "accelerating" too fast?

Absolutely! I've had a few friends get pulled over for racing up to the speed limit. One incident the driver said it was because his tires chirped on the start, but each time they got tickets for an "Unsafe Start"

....in fact, you can get it for racing up to 30 mph if the officer is in a bad mood....

If it was zhp, and not an xi, the 330 would probably win in straight line acceleration. I think the Clubman has more upper-end power though.

What if you're getting on an onramp, can you get ticketed for accelerating to freeway speeds too quickly? Basically I'm looking for opportunities to floor it legally on occasion.

The only legal place to floor it is on a race track.

Check with the local BMW club http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/links.aspx. Of course you will have to join and i think it is $40 per year but you can get on race courses and be able to do this legaly.

I have heard (but did not find) that they sometime go up to New England Dragway. That would be the best place to go.

Check out their Forte's Friday Street Night at
http://www.nedragway.com/html/home.php?dest=fsn

As long as you meet the safety rules and have a helmet you to can race race you car on the drag strip.

This will be a quick race on some back road or parking lot for a short stretch. Both my buddy and I are parents and don't plan on being stupid. I'll leave my highs speeds to a closed circuit track days on my motorcycle where it is safer and legal. Got a track day coming up next week, yes I'm a adrenaline junky

If you want to take your MINI out the Boston BMWCCA has track days it seems just about every week So all you have to do is join.

I have stock 330i auto and my moded 220 HP R53 MCS will beat it hands down. If it is a 330i stick with upgraded differential, it will beat the Clubman or even my MCS. Be sure to master how to hook up otherwise the stock rear wheel drive 330i will win. Good luck.
