I drove and auto s and a manual s and I remember the manual being "faster" off the start. That was my impression at the time, I went with a manual for the "entertainment" factor so to speak. When I was checking trucks, the 4 cylinder autos were slugs,and the manuals were tolerable..The auto in the Scion XB had a pretty good response though,, Just my opinions.
