long trip mpg for Clubman S

Just got back to Fort Worth from Galveston in my Clubman S. Drove 70 when I could. Dealt with Houston rush hour traffic (complete stop & go for 45 minutes). Had two people & 30 pounds of luggage in the car. In spite of all these challenges I was still able to get 41.0 mpg. That doesn't suck!

BTW car rode great. Not as quiet as the wife's Rover LR3 but not bad. Would probably be better without run flats.

Wow!! I took ours to Arizona (300 miles round trip) and only got 31mpg. I ran about 80ish and lots of hills. Granted, the car only had 2500 miles at the time....but I dont ever see the car pulling 41mpg. It now has 3600 and has never got more than 32mpg.

PS: Its an automatic....not sure if that is a huge difference in mpg or not.

Rockhouse, was that mileage on the trip computer or did you actually do math to arrive at that fantastic 41? Hard to keep it under 71! i45 is a bear near Houston. Traffic finally clears a bit north of Conroe.

I haven't seen a Clubman in DFW and have been looking for yours.
We should probably meet up halfway and report each other some day!

I drive a yellow clubie in the Carrollton / Addison area ... Look for Mini Cooper ISD on the sides ... There are not many out there, however ...

Several folks in the Dallas club have them on order, but I am told long order times !!

I can easily see 39 to 40mpg. I get about 30 but I run 85mph.

There car will pull huge numbers. The problem is tooling along like grandma in the slow lane with everyone blowing by you to save a few gallons of gas. Not gonna happen for me. I'm tickled to death I can drive as hard as I want and still pull 28 around town and 30 on the highway hauling the mail

The faster you go, the worse your gas mileage. I would be interested to see you do the same trip at 70 and see what your gas mileage was.

I've got an 08 clubbie, 6 speed, non-turbo. All MPG done with the trip computer. tire pressure in the 33 PSI range. premium fuel.

was driving along on a deserted Texas freeway (flat and not much wind), and set the cruise at 65. got 47 MPG on that trip leg.

at 70 MPH, 41 MPG is not hard to get. did a road trip with 20 - 25 MPH head winds (my guess) and saw 35 MPG.

drafting behind a truck is worth about 2 to 4 MPG, but there is a safety issue ...

hot starts have resulted in instant MPG in the 9 to 10 range.

driving to work (20 city / 80 highway) in the early AM (no traffic) get between 38 and 39.

I love it ....

And I'll be passing you at 70MPH while the FHP writes you a nice $200 speeding ticket

I'll have my ticket written and tooling along again before you ever catch up driving 70mph.

Don't know how much driving you do on the highways north of Miami but anywhere north of Jupiter doing less then 78mph your getting RUN OVER.

Not much, but when I do, I set the cruise @72MPH (Max) and let everyone else blow by me Some of the worst "offenders" are SUV and pickup truck drivers. I just sit back and relax....Whomever doesn't want to stare at my sexy boot, then can pass me on the left (I actually understand the purpose of having a left and right lane).

Then people complain about the gas prices...Look at you fools.... Driving 5000 pound behemoths like Ferraris and blowing by at 95MPH. Why ask why?

I get to my destination relaxed and in one piece I enjoy the gas savings and watching all those passing speed demons around me getting their well deserved tickets for braking the law and endangering everyone else around them.

Yep, you can keep tooling your way back to 85 until the day you run out of luck and have to show up in front of the judge and explain to him/her why you should keep your driving license.

Carry on.

Take it easy high and mighty...

I may drive fast but I haven't had a speeding ticket in 10 years. There is a difference between driving fast and driving stupid. I don't fall into the latter as you seem to imply about me.

Speakin of fuzz, I've already been pulled over by a cop.
I had IN TRANSIT plates. The cop just wanted to see my car and was considering a Clubman for the family.
He did let me know that I'd probably be ticketed if I didn't have front plates because so many jurisdictions are scraping for budget $. Thanks for the notice Mr. Bear. I'll keep the GoMiniGo tow hook plate holder nearby, but NOT on the car.

Just got back from putting in my second tank of gas in the clubman S 6 speed. The onboard computer said 39.3mpg. When I got home I calculated it on the computer and it came out to 43.05mpg. I thought everybodys computers were reading high. This was city highway mix max speed of 75mph.

On my drive down to the dragon (12 hour trip) my MC clubman manual averaged 41-42 mpg all the way down. That was with the whole back of the car filled with my full Stance Design MINI shirt inventory in boxes plus luggage

I was averaging about 75mph probably....no AC

I'm definitely loving this gas mileage...much better than my 02 MC CVT

Long Distance Trip with Max Load

Just completed a trip from California to Virginia and back in our 2009 Clubman S. Car was fully loaded with a Thule 1600 pod on top. Actually had it scaled at a local public scale on the way out of town, was just over max GVWR. Scale weight slip was 3540 lbs, add my 206 lbs and we were at 3746 lbs. GVWR is 3616, so were 130 lbs over max.

We drove 6653 miles and averaged right at 31 mpg. We ran on cruise control whenever possible and stayed at about 2 to 5 mph over posted speed limits. This was all done in 4 weeks and 4 days. Longest leg driven in one day was 769 miles, Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Barstow, California.

Car ran flawlessly and was very comfortable. We never felt worn out at the end of the day, even on the longest segment.

I have trouble believing this claim of 41 mpg. I drive almost all highway miles and am just past 20,000. NEVER have I gotten over 36-37 mpg. The absolute best ever was only 38 and I average 60-62 mph on the highway. A lot of people pass me on the highway. Also, he said he carried people and luggage with him. Every 100 pounds extra reduces mileage an average of 1 mpg so I'd like to see how he calculated the mileage and see picture evidence such as gas receipts and the odometer reading.

I still can't figure out how to reset per TRIP for the mpg, etc - i tried the reset button, but no bueno - at any rate though, I've gone to Vegas a few times, and phoenix (from oc) and barely used ANY gas - I did some math in my head and I've gotten about 40mpg at time based on how far I drove and how many gallons I put back INTO the car - and this is with an S - great mpg!

Hey Tat: when you get to the avg MPG reading, hold in the left stalk button and keep it held in. it will reset itself. if you just hold and let go, it will move to the next reading.
