Anyone wanna trade Clubman 3rd brake lights?

Figured I'd just throw this out there.

MC Clubmans come with Red 3rd brake lights while MCS Clubmans come with a Clear/white one.

I've got a red one and I thought perhaps someone with an MCS might want to trade.....perhaps to better match their Chili Red clubman or something .

I know you can just order one from the dealer...but I thought it might be nice since clubmans have the opportunity to trade different things like this or the rear pillars with other clubman owners free of charge

if you were in phoenix I might take you up on this offer. I am thinking it might look a little cleaner if I had a red brake light.

BTW =, do you know how to remove the 3rd brake light, is it easy to get to?

I've actually already traded with another NAM member....but I strongly encourage people to look into trading. It's a great opportunity for a cheap mod. Both people get the color they want for close to free

Removal is simple....open the rear doors and you'll see 8 torx screws along the roof line area. 2 rows of 4. Just undo all of them and lightly pull backwards on that trim piece.

Before and after. (also a before and after of lowering the car 4")

The reason I traded for the clear is because I plan to tint mine to a black color to match the black plastic trim that it's mounted in. I haven't gotten around to that yet.

I have a white LED that i'm willing to trade to someone if there's any interested parties. Mine was leaking so it's being replaced this Tuesday

That seems to be a common problem with the Clear ones? I know the one Thule sent me had a leak and I was talking to accordselux who said his clear was leaking as well. I don't think my red one ever leaked.

How easy is it to swap out the light?
How much is the red one from a dealer?

It's 8 screws (easy to access and remove) and then a bunch of simple push-clips that hold the light in. I removed mine in 10 minutes and installed it in 5.

No idea how much a red one costs from the dealer. If you find a willing cooper owner, it will only cost you shipping (we paid $14 via UPS)

Yea I talked to my tech and he said it would cost around 200 bucks to replace so I think a trade is a far more economical decision!

Maybe if they do the labor, but the part is not that expensive for a DIY.

It's a 20 minute install for someone with no mechanical skills......and yet, I bet they round that up to be a full hour of labor

If it's anything like the R50/53's 3rd brakelight, it's probably about $60-$80
