R55 Cloth/leather - comfort/durability/worth it?
Cloth/leather - comfort/durability/worth it?
I've got an SS Clubman S on order and am coming down to the wire with respect to locking in my options. I am considering springing for the Hot Chocolate cloth/leather.
Can anyone comment on their experience with the cloth/leather? How has it held up? Is it worth the extra $1k?
Thanks in advance!

I've got it in my MCS, and while my car's only six month's old, it'd held up great. I picked it mostly because it was heavy on the awesome, but low on the sweaty back syndrome that I've had w/ previous leather seating surfaces.
I have seen the Hot Chocolate cloth/leather in person (on a fellow club member's car), and it is indeed hot (chocolate).

I have the cloth/leather on my nearly 3 year old '06 MCS and it holds up beautifully. IMHO its way more comfortable, year round, than the leatherette and won't show sagging like some of the all leather seats do.
As for the hot chocolate cloth/leather, I've seen it and it looks great, especially with the anthracite headliner.

I went with the hot chocolate cloth/leather and love it. I had all leather in my last car and the sweat was too much. We have only had the car for a few weeks so can't say much on the durability. I do know people who have had the combo for longer with no problems.
It also comes with the color line and a upgraded trim (piano black or fluid silver). Each of those by itself I think is a $250 option. I added the Rooster Red with red color line and fluid silver for $1000. I think it was worth it over the base leatherette *cough* vinyl *cough* option. You could also select the base cloth and forgo the color line and trim options.

I know this may be slightly off topic, but do you envision having kids in the back, and, if so, have you thought about full leather? A few years ago, my son threw-up in my GTI, and the leather made it possible for us to clean it up. If I had not had leather, I am not sure when I would have been able to drive it again.
Needless to say, I am ordering full leather on my Clubman.

Thanks to all who responded. I have leather in most of the other vehicles I own and understand the ease with which it may be cleaned. I'm just having trouble justifying the additional $1500-$2000, especially considering some mixed reviews about "full leather" on this forum. As this car will primarily be used for local trips, I'm also concerned that basic cloth-only seat may not hold up. As a result I've been thinking about the leather/cloth because the leather appears to be placed in the "wear" locations. Of course I could go with the cloth and have enough left over for Recaros when they wear out.
First:
At least according to the configurator, any of the upgraded trim is included. The English oak looks sharp with the HC door panels.

The pleatherette is at least as hard-wearing as leather, just as easy to clean and a $0 option.
Aside from a sweaty back which even leather will give you to an extent why don't you just stick w/that?

If you go to the UK site at www.mini.com and spec the HC Cloth/Leather Interior, it does gives a pretty decent rendering. I haven't tried any of the other international sites to see what they show.
The HC Cloth/Leather combo is all kinds of awesome, I agree. I saw it in person and was blown away by how amazing it looked! I ended up ordering a Chili Red/Black Clubman S and went with the Rooster Red Cloth/Leather and couldn't be happier.
Tip - get yourself some Scotchguard for the fabric portion to keep spills at bay...

Worked great and no smell like scotchguard. It was recommended to me with the 303 cleaner by detailers paradise.

The stock seats aren't sweaty in the 100 degree Texas heat due to the good AC. I took the leather funds and picked up different options. Yeah, I wanted leather, but didn't feel $1500 was low enough for the option.
on the cloth/leather option, which portion of the seat is cloth and which leather? Trying to decide whether to get this option or stick with the vinyl. The description seems to suggest the black part (i.e. middle is leather) but the picture on the configurator looks like the blue/red/whatever would be leather and the black middle cloth. thanks!

Wow, that looks great! That is exactly how I want to order my Clubman. Brown cloth/leather with the wood trim. Do you have any additional interior shots? Thanks!
