Yes, thanks! For some reason I'm having trouble with their website - perhaps because I'm using Safari. For this much $, I can't think why it was not included with our Clubman when we ordered.

In all of my readings, one person has suggested that perhaps there was an issue with too much of a vacuum in the car with the addition of the club door and that this might be why one of the main door seals, sweeps.. whatever one wants to call them has been left off.

Now that I know exactly what it is, I'll be able to discuss it with my service advisor. Thanks so much!

you're most welcome.

I look forward to hearing anything you hear about why it was left out or otherwise.

so I finally got a look at this yesterday on my Clubman. its "missing" on my drivers side as well ... HOWEVER ... looking at it I don't remember having these on my R50 (and I was pretty intimate with the car )

I think the passenger side one has more to do with the fact that it meets the club door ... there is a lot of rubber meets rubber action down there.

My service manager sent me Service Bulletin .bmp file that indicates the US driver's side door seal was discontinued in August-2007.(No dealer paid retrofits.)
Once I figure out how to add a lovely picture to a post, I'll drop it in here.

The Service Bulletin is from August-2007 and was written for the R56.
Isn't the R55 US driver's side door the same as the R56?

Here's the text, since I can't figure out how to post the bulletin picture sent from the Mini parts manager:

Mini DelaerNet
TIS-Technical Information System

Subject: Lower Door Seal Deleted
Model: R56(Cooper and Cooper S) produced from 8/2007

The lower door seal, which runs the length of the left and right doors is located directly below each door panel, has been eliminated on cars produced from 8/2007.

Eliminating this seal does not have any negative effects on body sealing.
As these vehicles were not equipped with these parts from production, no warranty reimbursement will be made to retrofit these seals to later vehicles.
--end of service bulletin

So, it appears that the US Clubman passenger side door contains a seal, due to the club door.
The driver's side door does not contain a seal. You may still purchase the seal, as my dealer offered.

They knew nothing about it, checked the others on the lot and said they do not come with it, but they would find out from MINI and order it for us, if possible. Got a call today saying it's ordered and will be installed (free of charge) next week when it comes in. They have also decided to order and keep plenty on hand as customers ask for them. Seems silly that it would be on one side of the car and not the other, especially since the holes are already there. My only concern is whether or not it will make the door a bit harder to close as it is on the passenger-side. You'd think MINI would have clear-cut answers for these kinds of questions. Guess we'll see; at least it's an easy install/removal, if necessary.
UPDATE: Called the dealer yesterday to inquire as to the long wait-time involved in getting our driver's side door sweep/weatherstrip. Now we are being told that MINI deleted the part and didn't intend for there to be one on the driver's side (as DragonWagon noted), so there are none to order (would have thought it would be the same piece of rubber for either side but perhaps it's angled differently ). I guess that's the end of it as far as they're concerned. Anyone else ask, and get one from the dealer (no charge)?
