Vinyl/Plastic Protectant Recommendations

I have had my PW/B Clubman for about a month now. I'm curious as to what is being used to protect the exterior black plastic and vinyl finishes. I have seen Mother's mentioned in one thread, but what else is out there and how is it holding up? Thanks for your input.

I use 303 Protectant. I use it outside on all the black trim. I use it on the inside as well; the dash, plastic side panels, color line, piano black. Just about everything except the leather seats.

Black Wow works great on the outside plastic trim as well.

Everyone will have their favorites, and differing opinions. I use Lexol Vinylex for the interior trim, and Mothers Protectant for the exterior rubber/plastic. There are many, many good products out there, including some made by NAM sponsors. I tend to use readily available national brands for the convenience of picking them up in the local auto store. I do not detail my car frequently. I do the interior about twice a year, and the exterior gets waxed two or three times per year. I just bought Black Magic liquid wax for the exterior. It's highly rated (Consumer Reports), and only $6 per bottle, and is very low in abrasiveness, which is what I want for a new car finish. I do wash at least every two weeks, and I use Mothers Showtime quick detailer after every wash.
By the way, there's a whole thread on detailing if you want to post your question there. be forewarned, you'll get dozens of conflicting opinions!

There are only two you need to remember:
1. Black WOW - Exterior plastic bits.
2. Nero - Interior vinyl & plastic bits.

Both can be found from NAM vendors www.showcardetailing.com/eshop/ or www.detailersparadise.com
Enough said!

+1 on Black Wow and Nero. I also use 303 protectant for rubber seals, etc.

Mothers back to black works very well for the exterior trim. I don't like anything shiny on my interior parts. I use Meguairs quick detailer inside on all the plastics. Leaves a nice clean smell and no shine. I hate that fake armour all look inside the car while the tires can never shine enough. LOL

I don't worry about UV rays inside as all my windows, sunroof and windshield are tinted.

303 Aerospace is great. It's meant to keep the vinyl from drying out and discoloring in the sun.

I find that trying to use any other kind results in shiny glare on the windshield and actually harms the vinyl over time, since the petrochemicals 'dry it out' or some such.

+1 Black WOW. That stuff is fantastic! Pricey buy the bottle can last up to 3 years as the number of applications required are very small and spaced far in between.

This is the only product that doesn't wash out on the rain right after it was applied.

Big kudos to Richard Lin aka Octaneguy for a truly revolutionary product!

I also agree Lexol Vinylex is great for the interior and leatherette seats. If you have leather seats, use Lexol's award winning leather cleaner.

Black Wow is remarkable in its durability compared to other similar products.

Just out of curiosity where do you get the Black WOW? Is it something that is readily available or do you have to purchase it online?

Go to the bottom of the page for a list of online distributors. I ordered my bottle from Minimania: http://www.showcardetailing.com/bw/
