Clubby.. Auto Up Windows?!!!?

OK so I took posetion of a Clubman today for making template for making now stripes and roof graphic.

Something I did know is the clubman comes equiped with an Auto up window feature. WTL why did they wait till the clubmen to do that and does anyone know if that could be programed in the R56 models?

It's one of the greatest new feature I've seen. Even has a saftey that if your had is stuf and puts presure on the window it automaticly rools back down.

Anyone else with a Clubby know about this?

Not on my UK-spec car, built January '08. Dunno if this is just a US feature or if it's just that it was introduced more recently. What's your build date?

Who was your MA? Ian Cull?

Could be MINIUSA is looking to take away some of the aftermarket, uh, market...

Ian Cull, also known as GBMINI, invented and, perhaps, patented?, a device for the "auto up" that people have been installing in their MINIs for quite a few years. Actually had the pleasure of meeting him once way back when on a run in New York (the RDR II, for those of you who might remember) - a very likable fellow.

If you go onto Mortoringfile's site or MINI2's you can find info... Here is a link to Motoringfile's archived review: http://www.motoringfile.com/2004/09/...cuit_reviewed/ and here is a link to Ian Cull's - GBMINI's - site: http://www.gbmini.net/wp/introduction Have fun!

I just picked up my Clubman on Friday, and because the re-design done for the 2007 models was so major (by comparison with my 2004 Mini C) the MA went over everything with me -- took two hours to go through all the features of the car, program both remotes, etc. -- I believe he said the auto roll-up was one of the features introduced in the 2007 re-design, but I'm not positive if it came then or just with the Clubman this year. All I know is I love it -- finally!!!

I had this feature on my 2004 Murano. I knew they added it to the 08 MINIs (Coopers and Clubman), and I'm glad about that. There must be some reason they couldn't do it in the UK, just like there must be some reason why we don't get a third seatbelt in the back seat.

They discussed this on MINI2 when the Clubman was first introduced in November. At that time they said there would be computer programming for the auto up windows. They weren't sure if it would be done in time for the U.S.launch, but said that if it wasn't completed in time there would be computer updating after the launch.
I mentioned it to my Scottsdale MA when we went through my Clubman last Monday and he agreed that they had completed it in time.

Dumb question, but what are "auto up" windows? Don't all power windows go up when you push the button?

They go all the way up with just a tap of the button, rather than having to hold the button...

Thanks. I guess my last few cars all had "auto-up", so I thought that this was the way they all worked. It seems like a minor upgrade for a manufacturer, so I find it hard to believe that all power windows don't have this feature. Haven't these been around for a long, long time?

Apparently not - They had to come up with the gizmo that would detect small children's and puppy's necks and then automatically back it off...

Who wants to put their head on the window's path in order to test the safety feature?

The Original R50-53 line did NOT have auto up windows. MINI had not designed a senseing circuit for the system, without it, the car would not be allowed for sale in the US...

some of us were able to get the mod from Ian back when. It also had the feature of being able to permenantly shut off the ASC/DSC. Which I just love!!!

With the redesign of the R56/55, the auto up feature was included...

Actually, the Euro/worldwide spec R50-R53 did offer auto up windows..... However, it was never offered in the US market. Same with the heated windshield, Electric Blue Coopers and steering wheel paddle shifters for the Cooper CVT that were available elsewhere but not here

I have auto up, and I knew I would. The thing I never considered before delivery is that this would also include the passenger window... so cool!

I will not be the one to stick my head in the window to see if it will stop, but, as I have recently discovered, it won't stop when my hair is in the way. ***OUCH!*** It was almost enough to make me finally get a haircut... but I didn't.

Auto up windows were finally introduced as a standard feature on all 08 MINI's.

Yes, it was one of the (many) things that pee'd me off when I bought my MCS. Everything I wanted at the time (clear turns, euro shelf, auto-up, etc.) were "No allow on America cars" (sorry, my MA was Italian, English was his fourth language, so it wasn't as good as his Spanish or German).

So, like many at the time, I had to buy my mostly US Spec car, then go through New MINI Stuff in the UK to get all the stuff to turn mine back into a Euro styled MINI. No, I didn't use Ian Cull's Auto Up (shame on me).

BTW, on my 04, I couldn't get the heated windshield, but on another guys' 03 MCS, he got the full heated set (heats all windows except the Driver and Passenger front). Don't know if his "slipped through the cracks" or if he just lucked out.

A YN1 at my command did get the paddle shifters for his 03 CB/W MCa, and he also traded out his wheel trim with one of the Italians who owned an 02 MO. Thus he didn't have the marker lights, but the MO did!

Last time I went to Canada, I saw an Electric Blue/White R50 Cooper. Looked very nice. Shameful it was never sold in the US.

I'm thinking I don't have the auto up feature on my Clubby. I need to hold the button. How exactly does it work? Do I need to program something?

Just give it a quick tap up or down. if you hold it too long, no auto up...
