R55 After the Clubman a SUV?
That artists impression of what it might look like is ugly as hell. Besides the FJ Cruiser is a great SUV that has a mini-like white roof, a classic look and the base model costs just a tad more than the MCS. I don't see MINI beating it in price and since the FJ Cruiser is a Toyota MINI probably won't beat it in reliability either.
The MINI is a great small car, might work as a wagon but as an SUV it has some stiff competition especially since most of the characteristics of why it is such a great small car will be gone, such as handling, acceleration, gas mileage, and light weight.

And since car magazines called the FJ Cruiser possibly the best SUV ever made I assume it's a pretty damn good car that MINI will have to compete against.
Also there is a much bigger price difference between a Ford and a Mercedes than there is between MINI and Toyota. Even being a MINI enthusiast if I lost all my senses and decided to buy an SUV I would still go for the Toyota if it was a better than the MINI and in a similar price range.

It has that Audi/EVO grill lookin' front end, stick with the cars, we don't need any more SUV's and if you want something fun to drive but with room, get a Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring w/AWD
and change the tires!
Ugh, I hope MINI isn't really going to make this SUV, it's just not well...MINI it doesn't even look like a Mini Moke, can anyone point out where they are similar? I think we need to start a petition not to make this if they really are going to make it.
I think MINI will develop a small pickup truck on the Clubman chassis before any kind of an SUV. After all, MINIs are the antithesis of the SUV culture. I sure hope they do this. A MINI P.U. would rock.

I think it's a bad idea. A off road mini would be cool, kind of like the Subaru Legacy wagon and the Outback wagon.
Mini on the other hand, does not need a SUV under it's line up. If they do make it, call it a BMW.

That's an effing shame, like we don't have enough of these damn SUVs running around now as it is. I know there is a history to it with the Moke, Clubman, and pick ups, but that was a different time & place. Please don't do this BMW, grow a set & find a different way to promote & grow the brand, but also realize that the brand doesn't have to cover a bunch of different bases, it's a niche brand & part of larger company that can make SUVs and everything else. MINI doesn't need to have an SUV.
Most SUVs are glorified station wagons as it is. The FJ Cruiser is one of the rare ones that are actually designed to go off the road. For my desires, I think a new Clubman S and an FJ Cruiser would make a great two car set.
If the SAV were something remotely like this concept car I'd be fine w/ it:

Still a short wheelbase w/ wider fender flares for beefier tires. It's still a MINI...sort of a cross between a coupe and a moke.

I think this looks awesome! Is this a concept car?
Its just a design some one came up with when they started talking about designing a new MINI. I dont believe it had any thing to do with BMW just some random design firm

Also there are more spy photos of the Clubman.
