Ev - schweet! If the rear screen, plus the sides, really offers some relief to the back seat passengers (especially kid-sized ones) this would be fantastic...

My kids would be soooo thankful once they get that.. and I'll be even happier cause I'll be able to keep the top down even more.

Ev, that is exactly what I was thinking. Did you add velcro, or just tie the elastic arms in a knot?

Wow.

Ev, you are such a perfectionist. It's awesome. I can not wait until you finish this.

Thanks for the compliment Jon, and yes I just tied the elastics in a knot! That gave me the idea of not using snap buttons but small pieces of velcro (just like you suggested!!!) sewn in to the elastic with the "hook" at the J-hook end so it doesn't touch the mesh and the "loop" sewn at the begining of the elastic close to the windscreen. I'll have to test this on mine to see if the "hook" gets snaged on the mesh when I roll it up.

Thanks Ev, let us know. In the mean time, I'll keep rolling mine up and use the knot method. When you get it please take some pics and maybe I'll get my needle and thread out.

Update rear windscreen

After a few days driving around with the rear windscreen (just the center part) a new issue developed. Due to the force of the wind, it pushes on the windscreen and forces the top velcros to slide down the rollbar tubes. Here is a picture right after a drive... compare that to the one I posted a few posts back.

So now, I have to either 1. shorten the windscreen to this size (not my preference but the easiest solution) or 2. lengthen it to make it wrap around the bars. (still trying to figure that one out)

As for the sides, I finally finished molding the hub that holds the skeleton. Notice the grey looking oval. It goes right where the OEM windscreen attaches. Now I just have to do the final mold for the production pieces.

Comments are welcome...

I just got my windscreen for the front seats and tried it out this past weekend. I am in awe! I drove all over the place - interstate, highways, back roads, over bridges, you name it I went there, all without my hat and at the end of the day my hair was still fairly presentable!! (That's a really big deal for me!) I cannot believe how much it decreases the amount of turbulence in the car. And it looks fantastic. I got the Sidewalk version to match my interior and you'd never know it didn't come with the car. I'd post pictures, but I'm too technologically challenged. Thanks so much, Ev. I love it!

Just a quick note.

I will be heading out to AMVIV (Vegas) and won't be able to take orders from Thursday (3/27/08) on till Sunday (3/30/08). All other processed orders won't go out until next week.

Thank for your understanding and patience.
Ev

Double Thumbs Up
Evo, Thanks for getting my windscreen to me so quickly. Installation was a snap and your design is awesome! We were in the high 40's last night, and I was totally comfortable. Now my wife will be much more open to having the top down (which is HUGE!). Thanks very much!

My wife was the same way. A few days after finishing the windscreen, we went up to Napa CA. and she was just loving it. She has long hair so for her "top down" equated to "tangled up hair day"...

I'll see everyone at AMVIV.

Just rec'd my windscreen yesterday and will be trying it out this afternoon. Can't wait!!!

Do you guys/gals leave it on all the time or do you normally take it of and store it when the top is up?? Trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks,
Shelley

Hey everyone,
I'm back and semi-fully rested.
The weekend was excellent and met tons of wonderful people. Not to mention that the weather fully cooperated for top down motoring.

Not only did I come back with a tan but also a nice "most extreme MINI" plaque.

Anyway, just to let everyone know that production has started.

Zipimini,
I always have mine on. If you need to throw something back there (kids,dog...jk) use the zippers.

Sheesh, Ev, I was looking for you and didn't find you at AMVIV. I wanted to see your product up close and personal. Oh well. I think everyone had a great time. I know we did! Now to drive home this afternoon.

My car was parked in the shaded area by the last ramp up to the top on the west side of the parking lot. Too bad we didn't get to meet up! There was always something going on so, it was difficult to meet up.

Does anyone have the windscreen on a Sidewalk in the Washington DC area? I'm strongly considering purchasing one, but would really like to see it in person before I do.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

oxtox, I guess you'll be the BRG Beta tester. I lost my job and got my mom to live with us instead. I think I ought to get the car just because of the other two, yanno??? But I'm still watching and waiting.

I leave mine on all the time. Then, anytime you want, the top can go down and you're on your way. Like Ev says, you can just unzip it if need be.
