R52 top needs insulation...

Interesting observation. In my experience, the top on my cabrio is way quieter than the other several convertibles I've had extended drive time in. I mean, an order of magnitude quieter. My last car was a Chrysler Sebring and THAT was loud... The multi-layer material the cabrio top is made of (at least on my 06) is pretty amazing IMHO.

To me, the MINI Cabrio top seems to be both quieter and better insulted from heat/cold than my Sebring convertible.
But then you don't buy a cabrio because you want a quiet ride. You buy it for the unlimited headroom.

What a great video! Makes me wish it wasn't so darned cold today!!
My previous convertible was a Pontiac. The MINI is very quiet in comparison, quiet enough to enjoy the stereo and conversation with a passenger....but then there's all of that topless joy as a bonus!
Speaking of leaks, I've got one already. My MINIs 2-year birthday is next month and I've got a leak! It's supposedly related to a faulty window seal (part on the way to the dealer for a month now ) and started happening when the top was replaced due to the white marks/fading. It has created lots of extra wind noise that comes from one very specific area on the right side where the frame comes together, just forward of the front/rear window junction. It's created a drip at the car wash, but not the dreaded leaking that happened in my last convertible. Hopefully the window seal replacement will fix both the added noise and the drip.
