Wind Deflector Idea?

Ok....Here's a crazy idea...
Has anyone taken their basic black Wind Deflector, and tried to put a template (of anything) on it, and sprayed it on with paint? For example - masked off everything but a MINI outline, or checkerboard, or flames or anything - then sprayed the exposed area white/or any other color??

Anybody tried this? I've been thinking about it ever since I got the deflector a few weeks ago?

Sounds like a great idea. If you decide to try it, don't forget the pictures!!

Anybody know what specifically the fabric is made of?

I was thinking of this. What could it hurt? Plus if you look there is a rubber bead around the mesh which I would guess functions the same way as on a window screen - holds the screen in and makes it tight. So I'm betting someone handy could remove the bead and replace the mesh if something terrible happened like a hole or a bad paint job.
Go for it (he says on somebody else's $400 windscreen) and please be sure to include a pictured how-to.

I tried doing this after my Dog ate my windscreen but the results weren't so pretty. I ended up tearing about 1" off of the rubber bead. The bead is to tight in there that it became almost impossible to get out. So, I desisted from it. Beside, I'm still looking for the wind screen fabric and I pretty much came to a dead end on that as well. The closest thing was a halloween stretch mesh fabric that I found at the local Hanock fabrics store. I'm doing some tests with that to see if it might work. But as of now, that project is going nowhere fast. I really miss my windscreen... not to mention my $300

I think if my dog ate my windscreen, I'd have a new dog skin windscreen.
Just kidding (but don't tell my dog that, he believes everything I say).
I was thinking the fabric looked more like the sunscreen stuff you can get for home window coverings but maybe that is too heavy.
Keep us posted on your efforts because I think it would look really cool to try some mods on the windscreen.
In fact, sounds like a vendor opportunity.

...that's the thing... I'd hate to do it & screw up a perfectly good windscreen! I actually thought it'd be easier just to leave the fabric right on the screen?

Brownflyer - do you still have your windscreen - does it function? If not, lets get paintin'! :-D

Not much of the fabric left and the little that remained, I cut it and tossed it w/o thinking about painting it. Here the original thread on my experience...

Like I said, I'm doing some testing on the stuff that I found to see if it might work. I'll update as my tests are complete.

I bet a guy could have it silk-screened like a T-shirt. What we need is one of those artsy people to challenge this project to. I wonder if Mike at AC would do something like this, though he seems to be more into vinyl.
I guess if you restrict the air flow through it too much, you would have a hard time keeping it up while driving. Mine sometimes will fold down on its own during fast driving or stronger winds

What about landscape fabric. It's a bit heavier, but it holds up.
