?'s about the 2007 cabrio

Hello all! I've been lurking for a few weeks, trying to learning everything there is to learn about the Cabrio's. I've also been following the threads on the new 2007 hardtop. I understand that the 2007 Cabrios will not have the new body style and interior. Does anyone know if there are expected to be any changes to the MCSc for 2007 and the question that finally has pulled me out of "lurk" mode to post is -- Does anyone know when Mini will begin accepting orders for the 2007 cabrios. I've talked to my dealership and I believe I only have a few weeks left to order the 2006 (I think end of Oct??) Anyhow, will they begin taking orders in December or will we have to wait until next year? Any input on when we can start placing orders will help me determine if I should rush my 2006 order in or wait it out.... I would store the cabrio this winter (I live in WI) so if I have to wait till Feb or March for delivery, I would be ::sigh:: okay with that date (i mean, really - i'd prefer to have one NOW.... but since that isn't going to happen... just trying to position myself to ensure I will be driving my Cabrio come this March/April when the snow is melting!!) Thanks to ALL for your input! This forum has been a great wealth of knowledge and I've really enjoyed reading everyone's comments! Wow... this got long... My apologies.... I'm just so excited to start posting =D

Now it's time to start working on my signature!

I was told by my MA that the changes in cabrio from 2006 to 2007 were minor (she didn't list what minor is), and I was told that if I wanted a 2006, I had to order by the end of August. Of course, that could just be a car salesperson talking to try to get me to order that month (I did). As far as the rest of your questions, I'm pretty much clueless. Check with a couple of dealerships to see if they are telling the same story.

Welcome to NAM! Have fun with the process.

I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. As for ordering the 2006's, it depends on the dealer. I talked with several dealers and one had 2 slots left and one had 1 slot left. So I would check with your dealer to see how many slots he has.

I had heard a couple of different things from two different dealerships. One dealership had told me that there would be no changes (didn't even say minor changes...except perhaps the price...the price would go up). Another dealership had told me that they thought there WOULD be some significant changes later in the year. Let me say this, 99.9% of the comments, postings, etc., etc. have said that there will really be no changes to the 2007 cabrio (as opposed to the 06 cabrio). Supposedly the big changes are scheduled to take place in '08.

I didn't take any chances, though...I went ahead and purchased my 06 cabrio in August.

Yeah, my dealer said no changes on the 07 Cab..... When I heard that, I grabbed the 06 that was sitting in the showroom.

Yep, I'm with you Fred..."bird in the hand" and all that rot! I have no problem at all foregoing the customization process if the Mini is close to what I want. And by the way, congrats on your '06!

I think I remember seeing somewhere that the '07 Convt would be picking up the new colors...but I can't remember where I saw that to refer back and see if that was confirmed or not...so don't listen to me.

MotoringFile posted a document that said the 2007 cabrio's stereo will include aux input fitted from the factory as standard. I don't remember seeing any announcement of color availability. If one of the new R56 hardtop colors interests you, you might wait and see whether it will be offered for the cabrio. On the other hand, chances are that new colors might be not become available until later in the year.

We ordered our '06 cabrio in late August-early September before production started (so we were told) and received ours at the end of october '05.

According to my MA, only thing for 07 is new colors, including a 'nightfire red' that I like..need to see it on a car first tho...dealers should have a pamphlet that shows the new colors...

MA could not confirm that the new colors shown would be on the Cabrio - it was for the 07 MC; however some would have to carry over to the Cabrio.

Also, he said that you would not have these colors (the new ones) available on the Cabrio until mid-summer! True or not, idk...got the impression he was trying to sell a car, an 06, NOW! Whereas I'm content to wait till Feb. to order...

Why get a Cabrio delivered in Dec. in Pittsburgh?

Their is not too many around period, check the Hot Orange club map at the bottom of my sig. That MINI you saw was a S and I bet i know who it was he was at our last meet. It has a blue top like mine but it has silver S-lites and a orange blue interior. Mine is white wheels, white stripes and MTTS on the side.

Cannot remember specifics as I drove by in a rush on way to work, other than

1. Hot Orange Cabrio.
2. Sun roof open.

That is all

There is also a Chili Red Cabrio in town, shame cause that is the color I want.
A few more sedans, but hey, why slum when you know only the Cabrio counts? ")

That's the hard top that will be turbo. The Cabrio will still be supercharged.

The Coupes are being totally redesigned for 2007. That's why they also pick up the new engine.

The Cabrios stay on the current platform for another two years with the same engines they have now.

BMW does the same thing with their model line. If you look at the 3 series, the Sedan was moved to the new platform (E90)/new engines and the 3 series convertible is still on the older platform (E46).

For more info, go surf around www.motoringfile.com. It has TONS of good info on the new design for the hardtops and the anticipated release schedules for the new-desigh cabrios.

The Nightfire Red mentioned above is a great color. Wish it was available for our '06 Cabrio, to match our Nightfire Red Classic Mini Cabrio. Wife settled for Chili Red.
