2mm Gap between Top and Windshield Header

Good morning. I've searched for several days now, and I can't seem to find a solution. My top works great, and I believe both sunroof and convertible mode work smoothly and evenly. However, there is a gap of about 2mm along the entire edge of the top and the windshield header. Most of the threads I've seen discuss a broken cable, so one side is off, but mine is a uniform gap. I tried to do what ECS tuning suggested in another thread for adjustment, by taking off the sunroof motor and pushing the top forward, but I had no luck moving the top. I've replaced the top seal with a newer one, but I don't think that's the issue. Has anyone been able to eliminate the gap?

Hello,

Just saw your post. I have done the replacement, you need to unbolt the motor top sunroof / convertible motor, push the top all the way forward by hand till it seals, then insert the motor again. It will relearn the points, sometimes it learns them wrong.

Thanks and let me know if that works for up

Thanks for the reply/help. I actually tried doing what you recommended based on a previous post you had responded to. I removed the motor, and I tried to push the roof forward, but it didn't seem to budge... Should I keep trying more forcefully? I applied quite a bit of force, but maybe that wasn't enough?

You have to push the very end a little harder as the front parts tilts down a bit on the seal. If you take off the inside rail plastic cover off you will see how it drops a bit and seals.

My cables need a greased a little to slide to the very end, did you grease the rails and the cables a little ?

Are these the areas that we are talking about? I've greased the rails and cables and removed the sunroof motor located in the center of the top. The top will not budge, either forward or backwards. Is there something else that I'm supposed to release?

That's pretty close to normal , the top dips down in the front and seals about 1-2mm more. When i had my top replaced, it was set to there. I set it a little more forward with pushing down the front while pushing forward. Then installed motor and cycled the top.

The end movement for closing sets the top down a bit in front hence the pivots on the front portion of the cables

The top with the motor out does not move that easy , its takes a little bump. Make sure to have the top parallel from the seal when you move it.

Convertible top adjustment?

Hello, I have 2010 R57 convertible and it has a persistent problem of the rear glass/windshield on the canvass detaching despite being repaired.

I took a closer look and found that the problem is coming from the convertible mechanism pressing/resting on the glass when the top is down. The pressure then causes the glass to separate from the canvas over time.

is there any kind of adjustment that can be made to the mechanism so it doesn’t sit and press on the glass so hard? I will attach photos and possibly a video because it may be unclear what exactly I’m talking about.

I'm just reviving this thread in case someone found a solution. I feel my top should close more (there's a 4-5 mm gap) and i get a little whistle on the highway. I tried disconnecting the motor, but it won't budge more pushing forward. How do I lubricate the cables? I don't see any cables

The cables are exposed where that gear comes out with the motor. They are also exposed when you remove the trim on the inside rails.
I used a flat head to move the one side cable forward while pushing it from the inside. If it does not move like that something is jammed and/or broken.
