1st or 2nd gen wind deflectors?

Been looking for a Mini OEM "official" Wind Deflector on the intternet (can't afford $400+ at the dealer). Notice some advertised as 1st gen, and other as 2nd generation. Did they really change enough so they do not fit both? different holes, seat sizes, what?

I have fit the R57 MINI Cooper Convertible 2009+ wind deflector in a R52 MINI Cooper Convertible (2006-2008). The looks and features are different.

There are two different deflectors for the R57 MINI Convertible and for the R52 MINI Convertible. Once I installed one in my convertible , one of the best simple upgrades to keep the wind out on cool summer nights. Also great on reducing the wind baffle , you can talk to someone sitting next to you.

Checkered version has little storage areas. Both come with travel storage bags.

Hope that helps tell the difference.

R52 wind deflector

Hi

Thanks for the info .... i'm not so concerned about the different looks, just need the basic cover over the rear seats that has the screen that comes up behind the front seats. My big concern is can either one simply be clicked into place on a 1st Gen R52, and later on a new 2nd Gen mini. Do not want any modifications, need it to just pop into the holes. Found one for @nd gen on a website, myine is a 2008 MCS convertible, so it is still 1st gen R52

Yea,

You are welcome. I add a pic above for the Gen 1

The second gen can pop into a first gen , so I don't see a problem in the other way. If you are looking for the first gen style , I think the Gen 1 checked looks better in the Gen 1. Kind of goes with the model in a way but looks. But its up to you. And we have all the wind deflectors above listed and linked if you need another type.

Thanks

I lost my original wind deflector for my 05 R52 and bought another from an East Coast dealer. It is slightly different from my original... Somewhat lower in height and I've notice more air turbulence. I want my original style back. Anyone know the correct part #?

There was an older part number that was 54347122042 superseded to 54347164868 back in early 2005'. If you are talking about the standard black version and not the checked one. All the parts above are the current part numbers.

Thanks
