R52 2008 Convertible Transmission Replacement
2008 Convertible Transmission Replacement
My 2008 was running funny with 58,000 miles I took to my mini dealer and they said they would look into it and also do the 60k mile checkup and so I agreed and $1150 later I drove out with same issue (slow starting off) as when I did when I drove in. So I called to schedule another appointment for the following week as still take off was rather slow with my 6 speed automatic so the day I brought it back and the tech guy and myself proceeded to go for ride so I could explain and he could see how it drove...well it was running in 3rd and missing 5th and 6th he said and I needed a new transmission at a cost of $8500.00 and its a good thing I bought LDS warranty coverage with a $100 deductible because it is completely covered. The dealer even told me because they missed the problem the week before they would pay my deductible and my cost would be zero dollars! I could not believe this tranny thing is so expensive. Has anyone else had this problem? And how long do they last? Thanks Homazur
there is a big thread on this in the problems forum. Unfortunately this auto tranny has many problems and will last between 40 -100k miles, give or take. Changing the fluid every 30k or so may prolong the life.
