Beeeeep when placed in reverse

I have an 05 cabriolet with an auto tranny and about 55,000 miles that until last week has been great. Now, after the car sits for several hours, when I put it in reverse, I hear a high pitched tone. If I move into neutral and then back to reverse, the noise does not return. It is a higher pitch than the backup sensors and yes they still work. Any ideas or has anyone come across this and if so what was the fix.
Thanks

Two thoughts:
First, what was the cause that you said "Got it".

Secondly your title to this post reminded me of a funny prank I was the victim of. My coworkers placed a cheap horn with a trailer light hitch wire harness to my bumper of my truck. Everytime I'd put it in reverse (or so I thought, it was me pressing the brake pedal) the horn would sound off. Drove me nuts at first, but later was very amusing to me.

I'm wondering what happened here, too. w1ps77, what was the verdict on your beep?
