Little electronic box - what is it?

The fog light on the passenger side of my car was pushed back and loose. So, yesterday, when I was rotating my tires, I took the opportunity to remove the inner fender and fix the fog light. But, attached over the opening to the "cavity" that holds the fog light, was this little rectangular electronic box held in place by a long thin piece of plastic. It was not attached to the fog light - but it was mounted in such a way that it extended into the fog light cavity. What is it for? My curiosity is getting to me.

I would guess that it is an HID amplifier.

A tracking devise placed there by the fbi under the rules of the patriot act...
Since the hid amp should be on the hood close to the lights, it could be axlocation for a lojack vechicle recovery devise....

Thanks guys. Being a Conspiracy Theorist myself, I wouldn't doubt ZippyNH that it is a tracking device palced by the FBI......but since I'm already under protection of the Federal witness relocation program, they already know where I'm at....ooops....guess I shouldn't have leaked that out here.

Yep...right on up there with the Chevy Malibu and Toyota Camry as 'vehicles you don't get much notice in' is the MINI convertible. I never get second looks or questioned at every single fill up. Perfect for those in the witness protection program.
