2008 MCS Cabrio Oil Change

With a filter change, how many quarts do I use? Where in the owners manual do you find this information? Bill

You won't find that information in the owners manual as the MINI is considered a full service vehicle. However, as some have mentioned, either the Haynes or Bentley... I prefer the Bentley.

Did your MINI not come with service or are you changing your oil more often than covered? Just curious.

Thanks to all,I thought I was losing it when I could not locate the information in my manual. IMHO long drain intervals are not good for your engine,I change mine every 5000 miles. This will be my second change since new.As soon as I got it home I changed to Mobil 1 5W-30, but am now changing viscosity to 10W-30 Synthetic.I live in a very warm environment and want a little more summer protection .Bill

5K is still a little too early. You are probably tossing good oil away but the choice is yours...

I would also be a frequent changer of oil. Sure the oil is still good but what about the condensation that is inside your engine. That is the killer. If you lease the car then who cares. but if you are in it for long haul the cleaner the fluids the better.. The dealer says what 10,000 miles? 15,000 mi,, mostly because that will save them money in the long run... that will be just enough oil changes(bare minimum) to have before the warranty finishes. And what about that engine noise cold start up problem? maybe that wouldnt start happening if they would have changed oil at 5K. We will never know.

Oil changes, like all DIY maintenance and detailing, are good bonding time with your MINI.

It makes me feel a little more mechanically inclined, aware, and less like a lemming packed into a tiny metal box.

I have to agree with both sides of this, but since I am keeping my MCc for the long hall I plan on changing the oil at 5000 miles also. It is not that expensive and will hopefully make the Mini last a good long time.
