Welcome! You are number 057!

We've had Stella for a little over 2 years now. The odometer read 33224 this morning.

Our local MINI club, SotaMINIs, is doing their annual New London to New Brighton rally Saturday. Their are 32 cars registered this year.

(from the SotaMINI page... Come and joins use for the annual New London to New Brighton MINI Run and Rally. This event mimics the London to Brighton Mini Run held in the UK every year. This year will most likely be a Poker Rally but that may change. We start at McKale's Family restaurant in New London Minnesota and end up and Hansen Park in New Brighton for Dinner and fun. We may head off to Vali Hi Drive Inn afterwards for a Motor-In Movie.

My band is playing Saturday night, so we'll have to bail out in New Brighton, but it will be great fun. Any other local clubs active out there?

Questions for the Sidewalk Package Owners:

The dealer had this trade's wheels resurfaced by a wheel place to remove dings, etc. They looked great yesterday. I went today to take the test drive of the car (I bought it conditionally depending on the test drive). I noticed the wheels, which were freshly machine cut yesterday now have oxide forming on the aluminum. I can't imagine the factory wheel had this. The original condition was clear-coated, correct? The way these look, they will have to be polished with Simichrome or some other polish right away and probably every couple of weeks from there. Am I correct in assuming the factory wheels were clear-coated?

There was some other wear and tear which I will have to decide if I can live with: the previous owner had a baby seat in the back. The leather is stretched where the seat base was. She probably had the base there for the last 2 years!

There are also scratches in the black wheel-well trim on both wheels on the driver's side, nicks in the paint on the hood which I expect given the Northeast roads and no 3M clear bra. Worst is a crack in the bumper and 2 cracks in 1 of the chrome trim pieces. The previous owner did not do a great job of taking car of the car.

Runs great, but I feel a slight pull to the left and a slight vibration. BMW/MINI has not finished the CPO process, so we will see if this is fixed. Hopefully it is just alignment due to our wonderful potholes. If it is more or the dealer decides not to fix things, the deal may be off.

They are asking $24900 BTW.

Any feedback on the condition and deal would be appreciated.

I also just noticed the SIDEWALK plate on the doors are missing? Does anyone else have this on their car? It makes me wonder now if the previous owner had an accident and had the car repainted?

Is it possible to clear coat the wheels myself?

Wow, not much action on the Sidewalk Owners club!

So if my deal finally goes through, how do I get a car badge?
I found it!

Sorry!

Number 057 is perfect for me. I have a 1957 Harley from my dad!

Please remove me from the club

I ended up not taking the car. After 2 weeks of the dealer working on it, it still pulled to the right regardless of the road crown shape, had some vibration and big doubts in my mind due to the damage on the car initially.

So no go on the Sidewalk!

#57 is open again....

Is this a common problem for minis? The pull to the right? My mini pulls to the right as well, an I've gotten new tires, and rotated, balanced and aligned countless times to no avail, it still pulls

I don't know if it is "torque steer" due to the front wheel drive, but I did not like it.

Just turned 100K in Cilla last week. I really need to do maintainance on her like spark plugs, fuel filter, coil, plug wires etc. She's never had anything other than oil changes over her 3 years.

Great job Brad. Always good to see someone driving the car the way it is meant to be rather than using it as a garage queen....no that there is anything wrong with it.

Thanks w00tMINI. Unfortunately for me, the high miles are due to me loosing my job, and having a 130 round trip commute and a divorce that has me so taxed financially to the point I can't afford to move closer to work. I have tried to keep Cilla's oil changed but for some reason Roadshow MINI has never suggested any type of maintainance. Each time I've taken Cilla in, they always say "everything checks out great!" and I've blindly gone along with whatever they've said. I have noticed a lag in performance, which prompted me to change the plugs, and put on my "to-do" list to change the filters (the fuel filter intimidates me a bit I must say) etc. Cilla did get a new water pump last Fall and the serpentine belt was changed at that time along wiht the cabin air filter. Probably need to change that filter out again anyway. Is there a link to all the things that should be checked/ changed at routine maintenance?

hi all! it's been a while since i've been here... i've had my baby since sept of 2007 with only 19k of mileage. it's been giving me problems and now i'm considering trading it in. i really don't want to do this, but chances are... problems will arise and i will no longer be under warantee. just got an email from the service advisor and i need an engine harness.

has anyone else had problems with their sidewalk?

since i've had my car, i've had to have it towed in 3x. maybe mine is a lemon :-(

We just turned 40,000 miles in Stella around New Years Day. This has been a craptastic winter! Looking forward to better weather and a Memorial Day Denver trip to see our granddaughter for her 1st Birthday

How are all the Sidewalkers doing?

I can barely see mine under the road grime and it's been too cold and crappy to give it a cleansing rinse. Almost got stuck in the snow yesterday. In nearly 3 years, this is the first significant snow that the Mini has seen.

C'mon Spring!!

Sorry to hear that Spaceman. Let's hope that it went to a good home.

Glad to hear that you stayed in the Mini family. When your kids outgrow being driven around by you, it's back to the Cooper!
