New to MINI world

I recently bought a 2005 Mini convertible as a play car. It replaced a 1999 BMW convertible. Neither have any trunk space. Is there a luggage rack out there in the OEM market that can support 1-2 bags??

Check out Mini-Fini. Although they aren't technically "OEM", the mount required to use their products (called the Sport Link), as well as their bike rack attachment, are an official MINI accessories. MINI was so impressed with their design and the quality of their hardware, that they added them to the official MINI accessory catalog.

All you'd need to do after you get the Sport Link installed (available at your MINI dealer) is to add their "Cargo Link" attachment.

Is there any other place to get the Cargo Link installed? Dealer wants way too much $$ as they say it takes 3.5 hours, the bumper and exhaust get removed, etc. Would love to have one for bikes...

Look at the MiniDoMore - self-install in less than an hour (even if you take your sweet time as I did), and you can use any third party hitch attachments.

and check out Blimey's MiniDoMore with the carrier:

Well, we'll see tonight who gets to come back tomorrow and brag.

Yes, it really does take a lot to install... some people have done it for themselves though, so if you are confident enough in your abilities (or have friends who are), you can attempt to do it yourself.

You could also ask MiniFini directly for their advice/info on install options.

Yes, the MiniDoMore is another option, but I personally don't like it as much... I guess I'm so impressed with the solid design & flexibility of the MiniFini system, I wouldn't get anything else. I'm sure that happy MiniDoMore customers feel the same way about that product too.

I too would like to mount a bike rack on my '05 MCC. Does the MiniDoMore require any cutting or is it just a simple bolt on? Thanks.

Simple bolt on with no cutting. It does take a little under an hour to install the first time (I could probably do it in 20 minutes now), because you have to remove the bumper cover -- but it really is an easy DIY.
No cutting is required because it attaches through the opening for the optional rear fog light (FYI: there are 2 models available -- for cars with or without fog light -- so make sure you're looking at the right one). I like it 'cause when the hitch is not attached, I just pop the plastic cover over the fog light opening and the cars looks exactly OEM.
