R52 JCW or Miltek Exhaust on MCS Convertible???
For the convertible the exhaust should have a compressed/crimped section of pipe before the "Y" split going to the rear mufflers. The JCW exhaust that came on my 2006 GP had the convertible crimp. However, depending on where you obtained the exhaust it might not have the crimped section.
check the pic
Yes - that flattened section forward of the mufflers is to clear the lateral brace on the convertibles.
so that means it s easy to install..
do you now any place in NY where i can have it installed>? thnks
Are you putting it on yourself or taking it somewhere?
i m sure i can t do it by myself that s why i ask if you know any place were can i have it installed
That might save you some hard earned cash and you'll get to meet other MINI owners at the same time.
Milltek
I have a GP with an RMW header I am going to sell my JCW full exhaust as I am going to get the Milltek Cat back how much do you think it is worth It is in great condition only problem is it is quite long and large to ship.
The Miltek sounds amazing!!! It is one of the ONLY mods I have purchased that I have had ZERO problems with. I have the rmw street header and I am so pleased about this Miltek exhaust coupled with it.
I am about to do the same thing on my 06 GP. I already have a header and would appreciate a bit more throaty sound and more crackles!!
Most independent muffler shops will do the install at a reasonable price. Should be less than $100 for the install. When they do the install you might want to think about asking them to weld up the slip joints to eliminate any leaks.
The stock JCW cat-back on my 06 MCS GP was much different than the Milltek that I added to replace the JCW. The JCW had smaller pipe diameter, bigger mufflers, and a compressed section near the "Y" for the convertible. The JCW is also quieter than the Milltek.
I'm positive it's not. The JCW exhaust is manufactured by JCW.
something to consider down the line.....
the milltek can pretty much fills the center channel of the convertable. so if you are doing a header, you have less "margin for error" making rubs/vibration more likely. i am "this close" to selling my milltek. i love the sound and performance gains...just not crazy about how it plays with my header. i will likely be in the market for the jcw.
anybody wanna swap?

I have a 06 GP which came with the JCW exhaust. I thought it was too quite. I removed the resonator and it was too snip/crackle/pop. I tried a Borla Sport and it was too loud inside the GP (not much rear sound insulation). I installed the Miltek cat-back and it is about right. Louder than the JCW but not too loud to create a drone inside the car while cruising.
