Brownflyer, are you working on a rear seat windscreen? I'm glad I've done more reading to find that the windscreens, yours and others really only help the front seat. I have no need for one that reduces wind for the front- that's why I got the Cabrio! But my kids (girls 5 and 10 with long-ish hair) won't ride further than a block with the top down. And that's in the summer. . .

Yes, I had the new prototype made with mesh material ready to go but the mounting required to drill 2 small holes in the plastic sides. After having some conversations with other Cabrio owners, they made it clear that it was not their preference to be drilling holes. So, I've been working on changing that.

One of my kids is the same, but he can usually hande a few miles...

Look at the foot prints on the back seats, the plexi dust everywhere, there's now a 'rip' in the back seat where it looks like a box cutter knife accidently fell, and he also broke my cute little warning button over my roof buttons.

Oh wait.. you want to know how the screen works LOL.
So the rear one that sits between the back two seats is ok actually, but the one that sits between the two front seats is useless.. it felt more of a drag than a help.. and also, I was worried about the plexiglass scratching my plastic seat backs while motoring. So, there you have it.. I have a OEM windscreen which I use all the time, while the other just sits in the garage collecting dust.

Yeah, I didn't want any of it rubbing... so I took it all off.
Sure, great idea... VERY poor follow through.
Wow. Very inconsiderate of them to say the least. Not the way to treat anyones car. Thanks for your insight. My guess is this would be good for any 2-seater... not the MINI.

I have the OEM one also, but I think I spilled something on it in the garage and it's slightly discolored now. I'm hoping to get to see brownflier's version in person one day.

I agree

BTW, you must have me confused with the "other" guy. I sell the aftermarket windscreen that goes on the front seats and is made of Mesh. I'm sure you're familiar with it.

Please say Hi! to Stacey for me. I trust the windscreen is working well for her.
Thanks! My two girls love the car but when they are getting blown around and chilled in the back seat (unfortunately, Mini/BMW has yet done rear seat heaters), they want the top up. If I decide I need a deflector for the front seat, I like the mesh model.

Indydave ... you said you have no need for a windscreen for the front. You have no idea how nice "brownflyers" screen is. With it you are very aware that you're still driving a convertible ... but now you can talk, hear the radio, and not look like wolves attacked you when you get to your destination. And, where it really shines is in cool (even cold) weather. Top down motoring is still a joy even with temps in the 50's! Needless to say, I love mine!

As soon as you get the rear seat windscreen worked out, I'm in for both.. With a minor request.. is there a way to have a pass through velcro sealed hole hole in the windscreen between the 2 front seats.. I have a toddler that sometimes needs attention in the back, and would love it my wife could get to her without us having to stop..

Mikenaron,
The front windscreen comes with a zipper on one side so you can detach it for rear seat access. You also have an option of using two zipper (one for each headrest) so you can fully detach the center mesh part w/o having to remove the headrest covers. Check out "aftermarket windscreen" thread.

Looks like a taxi cab, but a convertible.

A joy in the 50's?! I'm crazier than most, but I think top down motoring is a joy in the 30's. Without the windscreen.

IndyDave ... you are crazier than most!!! Then you would REALLY like the windscreen cuz' you could keep the top down all the way to sub zero. You could probably take the top off completely!!! Have fun and Happy Holidays!!!!

One of those mesh wind deflectors was installed on my Mercedes when I bought it years ago. It cut down on my rear vision and just caused other wind direction flows. It's been collecting dust in the garage for years. I really don't get these things--it's a convertible. I thought people bought convertibles to FEEL the wind not block it. My kids have always loved riding in the rag tops for the same reason--wide open motoring.

Wow... as my g/f also makes products for MINI's and has made a couple of items that didn't make it past the prototype stage (including a wind-blocker idea 3 years ago), I find this rather disheartening...

We weren't planning to get one for our MCc anyway... but even more so now... just as a matter of principle...
