New extended maint package?

Our finance guy said "There's a new $1799 service package coming. So if you want 1 year maint. package, get it now". Well, our sales guy said the new $1799 is a 100k maint. package that covers for either 6 or 7 years.

Has anybody else heard about this?

Not heard it for new cars. Mine is CPO- so I got the 6yr 100k added. That is cool if they have that for new cars as well.

That's pretty sweet. I just purchased mine used private party. It has the maintenance for 3/36,000. I need to find out how much it will cost to extend it.

My Service manager offered me the 100k maintenence at my 25k check up for $1395 just 2 wks ago. He replaced the flywheel and clutch, and said that I might want to consider it, in case I needed to do it again. I ended up with a nasty leak that "contaminated" both. They had the car for 5 days.

My dealer (Ferman in Tampa Bay) quoted $1595.00 for that new service contract. Can you tell me the name of the dealer that quoted $1395?

My dealer came down in price

I called various places in NJ/NY and 3 of them quoted for $1395. One guy in NJ quoted for $1595 and when I told him I went with a place in NY selling for $1395, he said "Oh, I quoted you a wrong price!". 2 of the 3 places in Long Island, NY are selling it for $1395.

Problem with most of these places are that they need to scan your key. So buying from a place remotely really depends on each shop. Some will do it, while others are very strict about you bringing in your key that was inserted into the vehice on the same day.

If you are not sure...
Call the mini dealership in South Hampton and ask for Jerry in Mini dealership. Tell him that guy in Boston sent you and he will get you setup with an extended warranty for $1395 + tax without you going there.

Herb Chambers in Boston quoted $1995! I called back the fiance guy at mini at Peabody and asked if it was negotiable and he came down to a reasonable price so I went with them as they have been nice.

M.

What exactly is covered, is this extended warranty or extended maintenance? And is it transferable when you sell the car?

It covers your maintenance for 6 years or 100,000 miles. Brakes and clutch are included.

mini bee - are you certain that the clutch is covered? That's like a 1600$ replacement, and almost certain to happen in a mini before 100k miles! that alone (brakes are $$$ too!) would make it worth 1395...

Well I know the brakes and clutch are included in the original 36,000 mile warranty, and this is an extension of that warranty so they should be covered. But I'll check. I plan to buy this soon (I'm coming up on 32K) so I'll let you know.

When I got my Mini last week, they told me specifically more than once that the clutch was covered.

I have the feeling that the clutch is covered verbally by the salesman when
he sells you the the extended maintenance contract, but is not covered
if it fails before 100K/6yrs and you bring it in, as the written agreement will
let them claim incorrect driving style or abuse as the cause (even if clearly
not the case).

Is this a factory extended warranty? I'm pretty sure that most wear items would not be covered under the aftermarket warranty. I just reviewed one when prior to deciding to by my mini. The aftermarket warranty clearly stated that clutch and brakes were considered wear items and would not be covered.

I'm not sure how complete the dealer extended warranty is. I'm still waiting to get the paperwork for mine as it still has 2 years left on it's extended warranty.

Just got off the phone with MINI USA...

1) This offer is an official MINI offer, not just from the dealer
2) The plan extends the original 3/36k maintenance plan and the clutch is NOT covered. Wipers, brakes, SCHEDULED oil changes, etc. are.
3) The price difference mentioned in prior posts ($1395 vs. $1595), is due to when you buy the extension (if you are within or outside of the original 3/36k).

Happy Motoring!

I think repairs really depends on where you take it to. My dealer said "If the other dealer gives you a hard time, just bring it to us and we'll take care of it for you". I've had my co-workers with good opinions about my dealer, so I should be fine. When I asked "What about clutch?", he said "Don't worry.". I've heard similar reviews from there.

Having owned many cars in the past, I can tell you service can be drastically different from one dealer to the next. One Audi dealer told me it will take 3 weeks to get the part in. While another dealer 15 miles away told me they will have the part in 3 days. One would say it's covered, while the other insisted for me to pay.

Might be a silly question, but is the 100K/6years from the time you purchase the warranty, or is it accumulative?

it's based on the milage of the car and original purchase date. It's not accumulative.

My dealership in Tampa Bay quoted me $1595 for this and would not budge. So based on the info from monkeynboo (). I called Jerry Halloran at MINIs of the Hamptons. He sold me the maintenance contract for $1395. I had to send him my spare key so he could confirm the mileage. Once he got the key he called me for payment, then he FedExed my key back.

So if you want to get this maintenance contract and your dealership won't deal, call Jerry! He was great.

We had been quoted $1795 for the extended maintenance plan by our closest MINI dealer. Told them that another dealer was willing to sell to us for $1395 (thanks Jerry), and they matched the price.

Clutch is included; it says so in the contract.

silly question

If the extension is on the mantainence only.
what is the cost if you dont but the 1395.00$ extension..
from 36k to the 100k mark..
Is there an extension available on the warranty as well ?
and what is that cost ?
