"Based on BBB files, this company (BMW NA) has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unanswered complaints."

I am one of those unanswered complaints. I wish I had known this before I bought this inferior product! Sucks to be me. But I'm posting this a warning to those of you reading these boards and considering the purchase of one of these vehicles.

Since you have chosen to use this forum to harm the business of BMW and MINI, I think that is wrong in the extreme. If you want to lay out your complaint in detail and let people make their own judgement regarding whether they find your arguements persuasive, fine. But you just want us (virgin readers) to not buy a car from this company. FU! Who made you king?

I want each of you to mail me a $1000. Equally BS!

Sorry to be blunt, and I am sorry for you if you have a problem. I hope it gets resolved and you get justice(which can go either way), but this is not in my opinion an appropriate way to resolve your problem.

I guess if you have one complaint, but (for whatever reason) haven't taken care of it, you're 100% unresponsive.

Maybe someone could cut a deal with Dave to take that MCS off his hands?

JC,
I apologize for not linking my past experiences with both dealerships and MINI USA/BMW in my recent post. Please take the time to read the following references if you're truly interested in my opinions.

Thanks!

Uh... did you know that the cheesy website you directed us to states that the little Schaumburg, IL BMW branch has had only one compaint in three years, and it was resolved.

What on earth does that have to do with your MINI troubles?

I've been intrigued by your case in the past and followed the links through all the missing pictures and such only to be underwhelmed. It looks to me like you have all the expected problems -- saggy leather, cracked windshield, leaking coolant, some rattles, and a really bad dealership. You know, the average resale value of these things is around 105% of retail -- have you considered making a switch?

I agree with vespa. It sounds like you've had every problem that Mini's occasionaly experience, made worse by a terrible dealer.

Like any new car Mini's have their problems, but that's where a good dealer with factory support, should make things right. My dealer here is excelent. I've got a noise from the transmission, that doesn't sound that bad, but it looks like they're going to replace the entire transmission to fix it.

Long term, I hope the Mini gets the bugs out and that, thousands of miles down the road, this turns out to be the quality of car it promises to be.

Sadly for you, this has not been a good experience. As vespa suggests, you may just want to cut your losses.

Excuse me. I didnt know that because everyone has the same problems, that negates them from being legitimate gripes.

Lemon Law paperwork filed.

Selling it... Naw... got a cause to live now. Don Quixote had his windmills.

Good luck, and I am sorry you had troubles.
Still think that this isn't the way to get back at BMW/MINI, but what do I know?

These cars should have no "expected" problems. Just because something is a known issue, doesn't mean we should smile and say "I love this car" as we tick off the list of things wrong. I saw the leather problem Dave had in his MCS - it was ridiculous to see that in a $20-25K car. There are people posting about replacing their 4th windshield. I have had rattles that come and go, broken seat back latches and a broken bonnet latch. This car handles and drives great, but there are some little things about it that shouldn't be as problematic as they are. At least the engines aren't blowing up like the M3's were.

May 2002 build, Mini Cooper S. Just shy of 5000 miles and NOT ONE PROBLEM. I'd like to see a ratio of people who report problems vs. number of cars sold.

Online forums like this tend to concentrate a certain percentage of users. I don't think you can judge this car to be "an inferior product" just based on problems reported here. What about the thousands of Mini owners who have no reason to report problems 'cos there aren't any?
