How does the MINI Cooper hold up with a lot of miles
I drive 110 miles round trip to work every day, All highway. Every year I will put north of 25,000 miles on my car. So in four years I will have more then 100,000 miles on my 2006 Mini Cooper. Are there many people out there with a lot of miles on there car? How will my car last with all those miles. My plan is to trade it in after four years. any info would be great.
Thanks,
Bryan

Um, there was this post of a silk green MC that has 200,000 miles, the story goes it belongs to a retired man and he just drives all day and night basically putting lots of miles and thats that, if thats how it goes
One of the podcasters of Whiteroof Radio, DB, has a Cooper and drives lots of miles for work. He has over 140 K on it.
Here's a post on his blog about it:

I bought our 06MCS for my wifey's commute as well, she only does 80mi's a day though. So far so good. Her only recommendations are to avoid the 17" rims for ride comfort stand point. So far only have 15K on her....the mini that is.
Another 100,000+ mile Cooper owner here.
Lots of issues early while it was under warranty as it is an early 2003 car, and they're known for having issues.
Smooth sailing for quite a few miles after that.
The power steering pump will fail at some point. Mine made it to just over 100,000 miles, and the dealership was surprised it lasted that long.
The window motors will probably not last forever either.
Besides that, it's just normal car wear and tear.

You mentioned you drive all highway which is much better for a car than stop and go ,congested city traffic driving. i am not sure of her current mileage but I have a friend that has an 02 MC that she has had no problems with and she tends to stay on the move. Keep the maintainance up and you will be fine which is pretty true for all euro cars.

My situation is identical to yours, right down to the commute mileage! I got my '05 in December '04 and I turned over 69000 miles this morning. Still feels like a new car...nothing but routine maintenance. I'm having my original brake pads changed before the Dragon. The rotors are still within spec.
I had the same concerns as you and I thought maybe I'd drive my truck sometimes to keep the miles off the MINI, but frankly the MINI is what makes the commute tolerable!

Thanks for all the info. I plan on doing all the right things with car and it is good to know that it can hold up under a lot of miles. Again I only plan on driving it for about four years then I will get another one
Just to give you an idea. Mines on 06, 10 months of ownership and I have 24K on it already. It's my daily driver, mostly highway and prepared to have some issues along the way. The old saying goes, an ouch of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

No probs (yet) with the pump. 120k+, average 33k/yr.
another communter here - about 85 mi./day. Don't have a lot of miles total yet, but about 23K in 15 months, and my '06 Cooper has been trouble free - I actually didn't intend to commute in it that much since there is usually a stretch of stop/go So. Calif. traffic and I have an audi with auto tranny - but the Cooper is so much fun to drive, and gets such great mpg, I'm racking up the miles. So far, so good.
Haven't been around here long, have you?
These forums are filled with stories of cracked windshields. Mini's are famous for them. Do a search for "windshield" and you'll see what I mean.
The upshot is if (when) you need a new windshield, replace it with PPG glass instead of Mini OEM glass.

Crossed over 60k yesterday on my '05. 19 months. Doing pretty well, only codes it ever threw were the result of a UseLessChip I was dumb enough to put on it.
Still very happy and driving it everyday for work.

I've been running a cracked windsheild for 4 years... it doesn't hinder my vision at all, and while its a daily driver, I'm not going to spend money on it for it to do again. Theres also a few chips in it. Oh well....
