An artist's conception of a new two-seater MINI?

I could get used to that in a hurry - reminds me of the old Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite.

I believe that is one of the concepts from all the way back when Rover was trying to revise the MINI prior to BMW buying rights to the MINI name. This is not to be confused with more currenct designs/concepts for future MINI variants.

i like it since it atleast shwos the mini has soem design evolution left in it esp. after the very mild evolution of the r56

the mini def wont be like the new beetle, where i really wonder where that design is heading (assuming vw hasnt ended consideration of a Mk2 new beetle)

You're right. This was before the BMW days. I saw it displayed at the Museum of Modern Art.

Here's another Mini concept:

This came out during the Rover days just before BMW stepped in. When the concept was presented to the BMW brass, it was rejected. And the rest is history

It is....ACV30, 1997. A very interesting MINI predecessor and well worth reading up on.

Thank God for that! BMW knew MINI was a performance oriented marque even if Rover wasn't smart enough to...

If they'd gone with that last one, most of us wouldn't be writing on this board . . . I know I wouldn't.

That Rover concept might look ok with one of the R53 front ends. I kind of like the side view and that roof line.

It's almost as if the VW Beetle and the MINI Cooper had sex and this is was the end result.
