Ohhh... my family used to go up to the 1000 Islands every summer when I was a kid... I'm tempted to zip up for your rally if I can manage to find the time... :smile:

OMG. I've been reading the Deals Gaps posts over the past week and after seeing the photos, I realize that I've been there! I really hadn't paid much attention to the locale (too focused on the MINI pics I guess).
My wife and I had our honeymoon at the Lake Fontana village 8 years ago. I think it subsequently burnt down and was rebuilt a few years ago. We went mountain biking on Tsali, which circles around Lake Fontana.
I am in for next year. We love going back to that area of the Smokies.

Jason and all others, Thanks for posting all the great pictures and stories of this fantastic event. They ease the pain of not being able to participate. There were so many people in attendance that I would like to have met as well as an incredible driving experience I missed out on. At least reading all of the stories gives me the image of what the entire weekend was like. Thanks again everybody!

 

I think this one would have beat Godzilla!
