R50/53 On the List
After much hemming and hawing, I today joined the waitlist for a IB/W (with sunroof) Cooper at Long Beach MINI. The wait for a non-S is currently about four months, so I should be motoring in mid August or September. It's not the closest dealership to where I live, but in the end I decided it would be a lot easier to just call and get list than to have to go somewhere nearer and fight for it.
And our of sheer vanity, I'm much tempted to spring for the bonnet stripes and rally lamps. Not really sure what I'd use the lamps for with mostly city driving, but the classic Mini that I saw at a young and impressionable age had them, and I aspire to immitate...

Congratulations! Here in FL the wait for a regular Cooper is about 2 months and for the MCS about 6 to 8 months.
I am currently on a 10 month waiting list to get a '04 MCS. Still have 5 months to go.
Our '02 Cooper CVT took exactly 7 weeks from order to delivery at the dealership.
