I need to replace my supercharger. Any one have a used one for sale? Should I let the dealer do the install?
Thanks

I have a 2003 supercharger with about 40,000 miles on it. It comes with a 15% pulley. Asking $350.

Let me know if you are interested.

I don't have one, but may I ask what happened to your SC. I'm trying to gather info on what fails first in these things.

I've heard that heating the supercharger pulley shaft (sometimes done to remove a "sticky" OEM pulley assembly) can cause the seals to blow out... beyond that, I'm curious as well.

The water pump drive gear is driven by a SC drive gear - gears are incased separate from SC - are never lubed after the factory - lube dries out around 100k miles - without lube, metal on metal tends to have disastrous results - gears alone cannot be replaced - must replace complete SC.
I had to replace mine at 120k.

Can they be reached to be lubed, or are they sealed? Seems like something to add to the list of things to do around 80k-90k miles...

There are fill holes, but you need to remove the SC to get to them and R&R the fluid. I don't think I'd say the lube 'drys up', but it does tend to weep out of the mating surfaces over time.

I am not sure why my SC failed. Started with some intermittent noises from that area,at first I thought (hoped) it was the belt tensioner.
I read through the Bentley manual on this remove and replace and not sure if I want to do it myself. I don't know of any MINI mechanics in the area except for the dealer (Orlando, FL). Calling today to see if I can provide a used SC to the dealer for them to install.

Only difference would be in the coating - '05+ supposedly have a performance enhancing coating on the lobes. Should bolt right up.

That's the only thing I could think of as well, realoem.com shows one number up to 07/04 for a reman SC, and a different number after 07/04.

The factory SC fitted to 2005+ MINIs is the same Eaton unit used in the original JCW 200HP performance kit upgrade. This would be for cars manufactured after July 2004.

I just go a new supercharger I'd let the dealer do it. if you have warranty becuase it would have costed any where from $2300 and up mine was like $2700 W/O coverage becuase mine is a JCW but luckily I have extended up to 100,000 miles.
