R50/53 Hello I'm picking up my new MINI tomorrow
Hello I'm picking up my new MINI tomorrow
I'm super excited. It's a Royal Grey 2006 Cooper S, 6-speed manual, with the cold weather package. It only has 22 miles on it. I love that all the miles will be mine. Give me the scoop on what I need to know.
My husband has been letting the mod bug bite me.
He is dealing with his addiction, but he is pushing it on me. His has some ideas for his Audi, but i want to make my mini mean, and cute.

That's entirely possible, as you can see here!

My husband has plans (thinks it was his idea
) for a 15% pulley. I predict he'll be planning for a CAI and Miltek exhaust next
!
I was so close to getting a RG, great color. You'll enjoy every minute, that's about all you need to know!

Just make sure all the paperwork are in order before you head out to the dealership. Once you get there, make sure all the promgramable settings are set to your liking. Make sure they hand you two keys and one emergency key.
Hmmm....what else. You should get the original window sticker and look for the tool kit next to the battery. Go over the exterior to make sure there's no damage. Check the tire pressure. I checked mine the day after and it was off a few PSI. And finally post pics ASAP

Royal Grey w/Royal Grey Roof and Anthracite interior, the only Option is the Cold Weather Package. Im wanna do Silver stripes with either black or whiteoutlines on the bonnet and boot. other plans will be chrome mirror caps and scoop. eventully some performance, pulley, header, chip, exhaust, and so on.

My "take" on it:
- Take the 1250 mile (2000k) break-in mileage seriously - it's as much a chance for YOU to adapt to the Mini as it is for the Mini to adapt to being driven!
- You will over-drive your first few "enthusiastic" corners because the steering is SOOoo good. (You'll steer early and have to unwind a bit since it's so responsive)
- You will hide the spare key so you don't get stuck driving some Audi.
- (you will learn that there is Significant tongue-in-cheeking going on at NAM)
- You will be amazed at how much stuff you can fit in this little car!
- You will swiftly become addicted to the sound (and feeling) it makes pulling hard in 3rd, then ("GREAT - there's more!") 4th, then ("oh this is BIG fun!") 5th, then ("HEY - honey - are we in THAT much of a hurry?!?") 6th!
- You will get new wheels and tires at some point in time. Many do.
- You will spend a TON of time on NAM. More than you should.
You chose wisely on color - RG is an extremely elegant and mature look for the Mini - it says "fun, but serious" all at once.
Find a local Mini club - lots of great folks there and opportunities to really get to know the car. Our club has a winter driving school for like $50-$75 (a GREAT deal) where you have a whole Vehicle Dynamics area to yourself to learn (or re-learn, or learn MORE) how to drive in snow!
Oh - and ENJOY!

Welcome
Welcome to the MINI world. I have had mine for just over a year, in fact it is now due for service. Royal Grey was on my list, I even made a special trip to the dealer to see one (150 miles away), but when I saw the checkmate I had to have it!

Hi All,
I finally picked up my mini (and switched to my own NAM account -- I was using my husband's). I love it. The car's name is Nigel, hence the username. It sounded good and British to me. It's hard to go slowly and driving nice for those first 1250 miles, but I'm working on it. I want it to be the best it can be down the line, so I'm being good. I've already done the door screw hole plugs for the car. I expect that's just the first of many mods to come.
Here's the pic of me by the car, right before I drove it off the show room. floor.
