So what do you guys think of this option. I'd be curious to know what people think of it, especially the ones that have it. Is it worth it? I was reading a review and the reviewer mentioned although it's a tiny car and shouldn't have any difficulty fitting in tight spaces the park distance control was a good prevention measure to avoid dings. Especially since there's not a substantial bumper in the rear. 300 bucks might be cheaper than taking it to a body shop.

I think I'll just look before I get in the car. $300 is a lot of gas.

I have that feature on my minivan and a SUV. It comes in handy on large vehicles with big bumpers and overhang. I think it is a rediculous option on a MINI. You can see the ends of the vehicle just looking out the window. Buy some gas or CD's with the cash.

Park Distance Control = most useless option ever on the MINI, the shortest car currently sold in America.

The car has a near-vertical rear end. It ends right there. There's no guesswork about how far back your trunklid or bumper stick out.

Not worth $300 I think.

If ya can't park one of these babies, then ya shouldn't be driving. Save the $300.

Well put, kgdblu... The only thing I can think of that's anywhere close in terms of uselessness has got to be the air-conditioned glovebox, which unfortunately is not optional. I don't think I've ever lost sleep over my car manual and registration getting a little bit warm.

So true! The only thing the air-conditioned gove box might be useful for is a place for me to stash candy bars during road trips. Other than that I'm not too sure why the MINI has this feature.

If you'd met my wife you would understand why this "candy bar" feature could be priceless.. I'm hoping it'll at least help reduce the risk of chocolate on the seats.

They probally added the climate control glove compartment because a: it was easy, and b: because it was silly... Is it any good for carrying around bottles? If so, think how cool it would be to pick up a chilly Jolt on your way to work, and have it still be chilly when you get there...

if you can't park a MINI w/o the PDC - you shouldn't be driving.

I assumed the glove box has a/c because there's probably a screw hole there that snags on a a/c hose and results in an air conditioned glove box. In the software / manufacturing biz, we call that a "work around" with positive marketing spin.

I believe that is, by far, the best explanation I have heard for the glove box with air con.
