Monitoring MPGs??

Just wanted to boast on what's great about owning an MC. I've heard of people paying a LOT of attention to their MPGs so I decided to take a long highway cruise the other night and monitor the MPG. I was getting just over 38 miles per gallon with lots of up hills which is pretty cool.

I've become obsessed with this now and I'm wondering if there are any mods (other than intake) that would increase MPGs?

Throw out the rear seat and rip out the interior panels and carpet. Get carbon fiber Sparco seats. Also lighter rims and tires. Look into getting lexan instead of glass windows. Carbon fiber hood and trunk lid would help shave weight as well.

Basically there comes a point, after driving style changes, where the only way to see an improvement in fuel economy is to lighten the car.

I would just be happy that I'm getting mileage like that.

Good work KrooKid! I have a few more mods (ie. ECU Upgrade) and I can still get Rayelle's OBC to read in the 40+ I'm not sure if there are mods that will really increase it much more? But I'm getting more HP and I'm still showing the same numbers as before!!!
Motor On!

Oh yeah, go for lighter rims if you can spring the $$$

We had a MPG contest a while back here on NAM, proved to be very boring motoring for most of us. But I did manage to get 40+MPG.

Have not really checked it lately, but I would guess mid 30's, in my 03, 75+k Cooper. Driven hard, upshifting mostly 5000+ RPMs.

I did a 600 mile trip and got 26 mpg there and back. On the way up I was doing 80-85 for the majority. When I saw how poor my mileage was I decided to alter my habits on the way back. I never went above 75 on the way home. Most of the time I was right at 3000 RPM with the cruise control. I still got 26 mpg.

I figured it has to do with the weight in the car (3 people and snowboard and bags). On my commute of 90 miles a day, I'll get maybe 25 mpg. So much for this car being more efficient. It's a 2004 Cooper S w/ 15000 miles.
