I'll start by sourcing my prior problems via links.

Mini Princeton, NJ

Gettin my MINI serviced in NJ

Wet Seatbelt?

Trying to love this car but I'm truly dissapointed.

Whats wrong with this picture?

Does your Lapis Blue look like this?

I apologize I accidently deleted some of the visuals in those links. I also apologized that they're all from Mini2. If you search, you'll find similar posts from me on MCO.

I've really been trying to keep this civil and voice my problems in a professional manner. This is really getting out of hand. Last week I made an appointment to have my coolant tank replaced for the third time and my windshield replaced for the second, as well as having my coolant flushed for second time and having a slow start problem examined. I've given up on having the sunroof rattle and the interior leak fixed.
My appointment was for today. I arrived at the dealer and waited patiently for my turn to speak to the one service guy. When it was my turn, i filled out some paperwork and then asked where I picked up my rental car. He said they didnt have a rental for me. I said "i made an appointment" he went and talked to someone else and then came back and called enterprise. He then informed me that enterprise had no cars to rent so I was pretty much stuck. I said "but I made an appt with Jim" and I was then informed that Jim is no longer with the company... like that is somehow my problem. I politely asked for my keys back and left. So needless to say, Princeton BMW let me walk out of their dealership without getting my car serviced because THEY screwed up. Its ok, no big deal, it was only an hour each way of my time, gas, and mileage. I've really got nothing better to do with my time then try to make appointments and hope the service my car. This is the second time this has happened to me at a MINI dealer. THIS IS NOT THE WAY CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE TREATED. MINI USA, are you listening?

I'll be at Carlisle Compact Car Nationals this weekend with my car. Stop by and say "Hi" Mine will be the DS one with the big yellow vinyl lemons on the side. They're expecting 40,000 people. MINI USA, are you listening?

Luckily, I have not shared many of your problems (barring the cracked windscreen), but I definitely feel for ya. Cudos for the lemon approach. You should also mock up a MINI-type ad with a headline like "Let's spend months at the dealership." Hit 'em where it hurts!
Good luck to you.

As it happened I phoned PRINCETON MINI/BMW today about detailing my car.

What has been the norm, there was yet another new MINI service person. Could be number 4 since I've purchased my car.

The guy seemly a bit surly in our phone conversation.

So far, I've haven't had any problem with PRINCETON however.

But I was a little taken aback by his disposition.

May blow PRINCETON off.

Peace

Have you (1) listed this in the dealer rating guide? and (2) contacted MiniUSA about your multiple problems with the car and dealerships. For the most part, from my experience, they really do seem to care. Example: last Monday I took my Mini in for the bolt recall. On Thursday I got a call from MiniUSA polling me about my visit. The girl asked about 8 to 10 questions. Before she got off she asked if there was anything I wanted to mention. I had been just reading on here about a person who was having dealer warranty problems that they shouldn't have been having. I mentioned this and asked why, if they monitor MCO (I'm told they do), someone from up there doesn't step in at times and dose out some "official" information in answer to some of the things mentioned on this site. She made a note of it and I promptly forgot about it. Well today, when I got home, there was a message from MiniUSA saying they'd like to answer any questions I had and to give them a call back about it. I plan on having a nice chat with the guy tomorrow.
I've dealt with, at one time or another, at least 5 different car manufacturers in my life. None of them have ever responded in such a positive way. If you haven't done so already, contact them. Hopefully you'll get the same type of response as I have.
Good luck.

moorlockx,

If I may ask, what "bolt recall?" Mine is a 2002 MCS, is my car involved?

Yes you can read my one star review in the Dealer Rating System. I've spoken to someone at MINI USA, but only after repeated and pointless phonecalls to 1-888-ASK-MINI. Nobody has ever contacted me in regards to any messages posted here or elsewhere. I'd appreciate it if you mentioned me during your phonecall

You can count on it! Also, if I can get the guys email address, I'll forward him a copy of your initial post to check out.

The bolt recall effects some of the later'02 and early '03 models. If you bought your car new, you should have gotten a letter on it. Or, if you want to be on the safe side, you can call your dealer. With your VIN they'll be able to let you know if your car is part of it.

Mac, I bought my MINI at Princeton and gotta agree that service is not up to par. I only brought it in once, but they didn't fix the problem. After I discovered how much more they charge for parts than other dealers I decided to switch to Morristown. Morristown was somewhat better, at least I could walk into town and shop around while I got my car serviced. I'm still not thrilled with either for service.

I read all of your links and cannot believe the treatment they have given you!! Unprofessional, rude, and careless (wet seat belt??, retro clutch pedal??). With all of your helpful comments on the Performance Mod forum, I hope that you continue to be a MINI owner and contribute as you have to our learning and understanding of these cars. But if you decide to get rid of the MINI lemon, I can't say I'd blame you.
