It isn't very diffcult, but it does require some tinkering to adapt the chrome gas cap. If you do a search here or in www.mini2.com there are old DIY articles with photos as to how to get it done.
My old Solid Gold. The only reason I got rid of her is I wanted to try a S model. So far I have my regrets.
I saw a solid gold cooper on a lot in Fort Walton when I was down visiting my mother at Christmas time. Was that yours? I can't see the picture you apparently posted...this car looked lowered and had aftermarket wheels.

Well, now that I'm home, and can see the pictures, yes, that is the car that I saw sitting on 98 in Fort Walton.
I like the wheels, not so sure about the taillights.

Yes, that's her. They totally stripped her of the decals, to include the stripes. And as of this posting, I believe she is still sitting there. They want $19,500 for her !!! I think that's cool that you actually saw it sitting there. What a small world we live in.
As for other people's questions on why I regret getting rid of the Gold one. It's because it was different. Plus I had given it a lot of personality, but at the same time I do like the added power of the S.

I hadn't made up my mind to get another MINI when I was down there, I actually stopped at the lot and checked it out a little bit, but managed to get going again before the sales guy came out.
My mother lives in Holly By The Sea, btw. We get down there once or twice a year at least.

I'm glad you steered clear of it. Some how or another they put a nice dent in the boot. I racked up 54,000 virtually trouble free miles on it, but i think $19,500 is a little too much, especially since it had a lot of modifications on it.
I used to live in Holley By The Sea on Byers Court. Now I live wayyyyy up Hwy 87.
