So i'm incredibly new to NAM, and need some help with my MINI (I dubbed him Skratch over the weekend)...

I have to replace the bonnet for him--it's an '04 MC, black, and had thought that perhaps i should maybe try and 'upgrade' it since i have to replace it. I've been trying to find shops online that sell the bonnet--not the 'scoop' (or is that the same?) and am having some trouble with it.

I saw two options, one a carbon fiber hood from Vis, the other OEM carbon fiber hood, both priced aroun 500+...so my question is...should i replace the bonnet with a carbon fiber one or have the dealership order in something else (that is comparable)?

any suggestion would help!!

"Scoop" applies only to the bonnet slot on the S. I would bet if you can get a hood from somewhere other than the dealer, the price will be better. But some dealers may have a fair price. As to whether you should get a carbon fiber, it's up to you if you like the look or not. Can you install the hood yourself?

 

Probably not--don't have a garage handed, and the condo association i'm with hate's it when you just change oil in the parking lot so i'd have to take it someplace to put it in...

 

ive seen carbon fiber bonnets on ebay for MINIs, and carbon fiber boot doors . ebay is a good thing.

 

i did see the one on ebay--just wondering what was the better buy i guess...'reinforced bonnet' or the carbon fiber..i think i'm leaning toward the later tho..
