WET Okole owners - a question of color

For those of you who have purchased Wet Okole seat covers, what are your general opinions of them? Worth it?

I'm planning on a chili red mcsc, but don't wish to burn a pile of cash on seat covers that don't look, fit or work well.

Hard to decide on the color(s) as well; I see they will send you swatches so I suppose that might help...

Thanks for any advice in advance...

And do they interfere with the heated seats? Make them less effective? Very important!

I wouldnt think it would be a great idea if you want your airbags to function correctly.

I am not an owner of Wet Okole's but I have read on them a fair deal and I know they are designed to allow for the functionallity of the side impact airbags.

Found this example here, this I like...very...red! But hey, a 'vert should stand out, right?

From what I can tell from reading NAM and the WO website, they are designed to work with AirBags

I have red ones in my 04 MCS and love them. There is no problem with the airbags abd they have cutouts made specificly for them. Only thing I wish I had was black headrests.

As you can see from Twister pic they fit the seats really well. I have the all black ones for my cabrio and I really like them. The heated seats still work as well as they did before, plus I don't have that initial "holy coldness" feeling when I sit down. (I have leatherette underneath). At first I just got them to protect the back seat from the dog but liked the look of them so much I got them for the front seats as well. They're pretty easy to install and come with about a hundred straps and buckles to keep them in place. I would definitely request the fabric swatches because they have a ton of colors.

Do you find their bright red is a good match for MINI's "Chili Red"?

Exactly what I'm doing - I have a German Short Hair and she sheds quite a bit, is fond of water and mud, etc. Figured this was a prudent thing to look into

Here are mine:

I got them because I have the cloth seats and was concerned about water. Now they are 100% water-proof.
The black headrest covers were $20 extra but they also sent me the red ones. I totally took this color scheme from mmatarella so I'm always quick to give him credit.
I think the red of the seats is very close to the chili red - very close. I'm very happy with them and they continue to get extra attention when people see them.

Time to resurrect a thread.

I have a cabrio with the leatherette, and am looking for something to help with the "Holy Crap!" sensation when getting in the car on hot days. I have seen the thread about seat coolers, but really would like a set of these. How are they on hot days? Is the inital shock less than the leatherette, and does your back get as hot while driving? Also do the back seat covers cause any issues with folding down the seats?

Thanks!

I have a Chili Red MCC with the Bright Red Wet Okole covers and they are awesome. The color match is close and the comfort is excellent! Cooler in summer[ I've had no "sweaty Back Syndrome"] In winter they actually retain your body heat. They are very easy to clean, I've even used one of those stain remover pencils on them. No fade after one year. I recommend you buy their UV Protection and cleaning kit. The Black headrest covers wil cost a little extra but really look much better than the red ones. A best buy IMHO .
I only bought the front seat covers ,cuz my backseat is always folded down, so the whole package was under $400.00. 10 day turnaround.

+1 - No sweating issues and no folding issues. These covers are specifically designed for the MINI so the fit like a glove.
Note that I've used Wet Okole's UV protection but I have now switched to 303 Aerospace Protectant. It is cheaper, more readily available (at DP) and has stronger UV protection. Plus the 303 applicator can spray out more product than the Wet Okole spray bottle.

I've had mine for well over a year (all black), and I highly recommend them! They're waterproof, and never get hot or cold. They also fit excellently, though I remember the rear seat was more difficult than the fronts to install.

They do have an opening to allow the side airbags to deploy, but I've never tested it lol

I got them recently too (see gallery). They add some "pop" (VHP) with the top down, add some cushion to the not-so-butt-friendly seats, and the side airbags are accounted for in the design of the cover.

In short, THEY ROCK!

I've had Wet Okole's on every car I've owned for several years and they are absolutely worth the money. The fit perfectly and wear well. The fake ones are crap and made of inferior materials. The air bags still work because the covers have a cutout. Be sure to buy the UV protectant spray and order black headrests. These are two years old.

Hey tigwantstoplay, how did you get the MINI logo on them? And the belt covers too? I'm looking around the site and found the graphics, but they don't have our MINI wings?

Seat belt covers are from ebay Tons out there.

The MINI wings logo is an option through Wet Okole. It adds about $45 to the overall cost, but I like em

Thanks for the quick response. I'm still new at all this cabrio and MINI stuff, and it's somewhat overwhelming!

Tigwantstoplay,
As for the special graphic on your Wet Okole did you have to supply them with the drawing or something?

Nah, Wet Okole has the MINI graphic. Just mark the "custom graphic" box with your order. I made a comment in the "comments box" on my order form that I wanted the logo to be 6" wide and 3" high...and they called me within an hour of me placing my order saying, "sorry, we have the standard Logo and it's 4" wide and 2" high". No biggie...I went with what they had available.

Just an FYI for everyone: I ordered my Wet Okole's last week and was informed that they now have artwork for the "MINI" Winged Badge AND (drum roll please......) "Cooper S" artwork that is an exact copy of the factory logo.

I couldn't stop myself.....I have a set with the Cooper S logo's coming and will post some images when they arrive. Woo-Hoo!
