R50/53 I was told to trade the Cooper in!
Yet, to reject the possiblility of dating someone based on what they drive seems to range from, well, silly to pathetic...
Fact is, women to in fact try to discern income and personality cues in any way they can...by your speech, your clothing, your watch, shoes, and what you drive...
those with less tact and intelligence will often ask immediately and bluntly, "So where do you work?"

To choose someone to date based on the fact that they have a 'lifted' pick-up we agree, most of us, ranges from silly to pathetic...

You own a MINI and love it, yet you would not date a man who drove one. Care to elaborate on that double-standard, or was that a hit-and-run comment ?
As has been said, when you first meet someone you notice a lot of things, watches, shoes, clothes, haircut, cars, personal hygene etc
we (ie humans) weight those to figure out if this person appears to be a match or not. The car that someone drives is usually an indication of their style vs practicallity but not always. Lifted trucks say 'off road enthusiast, red neck or poseur' to me
My wife currently drives a BMW 325i, but when I first met her, she was driving an ancient and rather battered Ford Fiesta that belonged to her sister. Had I based her car choice on my dating decision - I hate Fords - then I would not have met the most important person in my life.
To sum things up. If you purchased a vehicle to attract women, you don't get "it."
And if a woman sums you up by your choice of vehicle... she's not worth your time, and definitely not your money.
I should have added "solely" to it then :P
Either way, by the time the guy actually steps out of the car, you'll know if your suspicions were true just by the way he carries and presents himself.

ive been told by some ladies in rather explitive terms what they think of a MINI....doesnt matter though...the positive compliments i get outweigh the bad...and some of them had a tinge of jealously to it...because they were driving some rather beat up vehicles...and if their car is dirty as hell and junked up on the inside it does tell me they dont have respect for their own things so how much respect would they have for you own things?
Do you not think this to be at least partly true?
Do you not think some women actually look at men's shoes and their watch? Clothes mean little because posuers can buy any fake label. Speech, however, is hard to fact ... can you not see their education level or at least if they know how to talk in polite society by discussion?
I am interviewing at the moment, I take note of shoes, watches, ties, glasses, haircuts etc
If someone is detail oriented enough to worry about such things, then there is a great chance that they will be a real good BSA. Obviously (?) most every interviewee will be wearing a suit and tie, but its the details that set people apart. I tend to class a 'good fake' watch above (say) a Casio g-shock
especially when combined with a 1/2 decent suit. Whereas an antique Rolex would probably warn me off as a little too flash. When it comes to developers I tend to have a whole different set of expectations, there is serious ecentricity involved there and generally the vernerably G-Shock is a better indicator of geekdome than a Fake TAG.
I purchased my MINI for myself...not for others...but they too can enjoy a look or two
This is what people ask me all the time....
and it makes them sound ignorant and small minded..
Quoted from
Raftermand FMJ:
those with less tact and intelligence will often ask immediately and bluntly, "So where do you work?"
(or to add "So what do you do?")
Because I am young and have traveled well....I only get this question when I am around less traveled people (which find offense to this).

Threads of these types always generate so much autocentrism and emotion!
Let's remember that closed mindedness works both ways. Someone who refuses to date a lifted truck owner is just as bad as someone who wouldn't date a MINI owner.
Let's remember the spirit of motoring!
OK, Game On!

Bama ... just taking the sentence above ... by itself ... and your in a better position to judge this than all the guys ...

With me it's teeth, I always look at someones teeth. I know I'm wierd :impatient but they gotta have good teeth

Being, a man
, Men I know pay little, if any, attention to detail. If you ever saw the show on WB ... Geeks and ?, I forget, all the women knew designer names by heart. The guys, they were lucky they put their shirts on straight.
When it comes to the things people wear such as shoes, clothes, jewerly ... well diamonds can be fake. Rolex can be fake, etc. Designer labels are ripped off all the time. You won't know it until it falls apart after wearing it a few times! But it wouldn't matter. I would never pay attention to any of it and couldn't tell you what a person was wearing three minutes ago

It has been my experience that women are far more observant in these areas. Just go to a party ... wife will remember what EVERYONE wore. I will be lucky to remember what we ate for dinner

As to speech ... that is kind of hard to miss. If someone uses street slang in a polite conversations, you know pretty quick where they are at.
Cars ... I aint touching that one. Rich folks have been known to drive beaters and poor folks drive Mercedes living in poverty.
Oh yeah, teeth
I thought that was how you checked out a horse ... seriously!!!

Especially one in particular.
