Engine light wouldnt go away

hi everyone. i'm new here.
i have a MCS 2005 and my car's engine light just wouldnt go away. it happened the first time right after i almost hit a car in front of me. i took a really really hard brake. i was all messed up at that moment and my foot seemed to punch the gas pedal as well cuz i remember hearing a big accelarating noise. lucky me i didnt smash onto the front car, though he hit the one in front of his, which i'm sorry for him. so restart my car and it was the first time the light went on.

i brought it to the dealer so many times and they just kept telling me that it was just misfire and had the light cleared. but the light fought back most likely after a day or two. so i brought to them again and they said it might be because of the computer thing. so they reprogrammed the computer. and sadly the light returned merely after a day. so last time they carried bunch of tests, said including removing parts and finally they found corroded wire. so they changed it. but i was happy for like a week and then the damn light was back on again.

they claimed that they'd literally checked every possibility, plus there's no problem when giving a test drive. they'd scheduled me an appointment to have the computer changed. i really dont know if it would do any good. i heard that some ppl do have their engine light on. but i guess none is anything like me, you know, recuring this often. so i'm just wondering if you guys have any brighter thought? thx~

Are you going to an official MINI dealership?

Interesting. I had a similar experience with no to similar results. I was slowing down preparing to turn downshifting into 1st around 6 or 7 mph and I accidentally went into 3rd. Of course, I had to let the clutch out fast. The revs dropped and almost stalled the engine before I pushed the clutch back in. The engine light came on but went out as soon as I got over 10 mph.

Have you tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes. That should reset the computer and all the codes.

Hmm....

This is strange. ODB reader should be clearing the problem. That is, unless they aren't fixing/reading properly. I'd get a second opininon.
