R50/53 Atlanta MINIs in their Holiday Regalia
Atlanta MINIs in their Holiday Regalia
So, after countless hours of hard work, craftiness and dedication by the Atlanta MINIs Steering Committee, the design was complete and the "dress regalia" was donned! The Atlanta MINIs made a stupendous showing at the Festival of Trees opening parade this morning in downtown Atlanta. This is the 3rd year for the Atlanta MINIs (although my first to be able to participate!).
The Steering Committee (I won't list them here since I know I'll leave someone out), did a great job choosing a theme and getting the work parties organized. Global Imports paid the parade entry fee and Denyse Signs gracioiusly donated the outstanding graphics. The theme this year, since no two MINIs are alike, was snowflakes.
I'll post a few pics, I wish I had more, but I ended up with a dead camera battery so have alot less than I'd hoped to have.
A pic of the graphics that were put on the cars a couple of weeks ago, Thanks, Tim and Denyse Signs!

My daughter, MacKenzie, in front of El Kabong just before "take off".

All lined up and ready to go, aren't they beautiful!

Me with my daughter, about to hit the gas. We all had to dress like snowmen to work with the snowflake theme.

Hopefully others will post some more pics. When I get a sec to download a few more, I'll add them here.
Thanks to MINIMOM (Angel) for her great design work, Laura and Nikki for their blood sweat and tears helping with the pre-work party work
and to Pete for helping me secure my snowflake, a true master with fishing line and a knife! Like I said I know I'm not including everyone, but I have been awake since 5:00 am this morning, I'm a bit fuzzy!

Great decorations, Atlanta!
What were the snowflakes made out of?

BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!
Very nice addition to the parade and what a great idea for a theme!
I like the snowflake v. MINI comparison... No two really aren't alike. You and the club did a great job!
Thanks for the pics and sharing with us.
So what's on tap for next year?

Yep, the Antlers was the Atlanta club in 2004, for 2005 they were mice.
The graphics are all vinyl, and very well done. It was a very generous contribution from Denyse signs. I'm leaving mine on through New Year's and will then have to work out getting them all off!
As to next year, I'm sure the Steering Committee is going to take a little mental break and then start planning. As we were putting on finishing touches and getting ready to start up one of the parade organizing officials came over to Angel (MINIMOM) to commend her on the job and said the decorations get better every year and then asked what was the plan for next year! Needless to say, she said the plan was to just get through this one first!
There are some great pics on the Atlanta MINIs site that are way better than anything I took!

Thanks BoCron for all the great P.R.! LOL Believe it or not we pretty much already have the theme for next year! Just have to keep it a secret.
Every year I get emails from MINI clubs from all over the world wanting to know how we pull this parade off and its great seeing other MINI clubs interpretation of our designs!
A lot of people don't understand why we do this, why we spend hundreds of hours just for a parade - those people don't have a MINI and don't understand the MINI way of life!

No antlers for us...
Great pics alpinamike. I had to go thru the pics twice since it didn't occur to me to look at the "celebs" the first time. I was, of course, more interested in the MINIs.
