Just wanted to share this moment in time with some Mini friends who knew I was in
the market for a Classic Mini. The hunt's over! Yesterday (Sat) I took delivery on
a British Racing Green Morris Mini from DJ's Mini in Ocala, Fl. (3 1/2 hrs one way drive from home). Followed my son home, he was driving my 03 all chilli red MINI
Cooper. Averaged around 78 mph on interstate 75. Love the car! The ride! The
handling was superb. Smaller than you can imagine a car could be. A great great
experience. Everywhere we stopped we drew a crowd. Eyes popping wide open. I just can't put in words how I feel about my mini cars. Gosh, in 5 months I'll be 55 years old, this can't be happening to me! I will post pics real soon.
Oh yeah, Dion at DJmini.com is one heck of a guy. He stocks parts for the CM &
the new MINIs. If he has it in stock he will overnight. Dion also is one more lucky
fellow, as his wife is beautiful & loves Minis.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful time with me.
Terry

Thats cool, glad to hear it. I have an 02 Chili red MINI. I am in CO right now, but this summer will be moving to Ocala. Do you live there or anywhere near there, because I want someone to cruise with when I make it down there.

Jbrams800,
I live in South West Ga., almost 4 hrs. of hard driving north of Ocala. Before or when you move, make contact with Dion at DJMini.com. I am sure he knows all
the MINI owners, old & new models, plus he is a heck of a nice fellow. However,
if you come up my way, let me know. Another thing, the Florida MINI club is real
active. On this site, check out FORUMS under Features. If you are into crusing,
this is the club for you. I am just not into crusing, except with grandkids.
Thanks,
Terry

Congratulations on your new baby! Hope I put you on to them. Dione and Melanie are really nice people and I'm sure you were treated well. The next Brit Car meet will be on 5/17 in Braselton at Chateua Elan. Many FL folks come up for that.

I got a "new" classic too.

Its still in the UK. I'll be able to bring it over later this year. Its a 1978 Clubman Estate with an actual 22,622 miles on it! One elderly lady owner. Unreal.

So, what did you get? I forgot. What year? What model? Engine size? Wheel size?

I had a 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S, 1275 cc, 78 HP, 10" wheels. BRG/W.

Anyway, lots of luck!!! And don't forget to top off the dashpots on those SU carbs!

Regards,
Red

Yes you did lead me to Dion at DJMini. Thanks a lot. I promise I will post pics real soon, but if you want a look at a car just like mine from the outside, color & all, go
to djminis.com. Click on cars for sale & check out the two British Racing Green mimis
he has for sale. These two minis are no longer for sale but are still on his site.
Thanks Again,
Terry

You really don't need much shelf room, just a mini corner.
Thanks!

Red: 13" wheels. I still can't get over the difference in size between 13" & 16" wheels. Wow, the 10" must have been really small. Seems like that would have
been a real rough ride.

Garfield - I join in the congratulations! I owned a '63 for about 6 months and always regretted selling it. Not many folks get to own both a classic and new MINI. Enjoy your cars!

1994! Wow! a modern one, and loaded with goodies no less. Sounds really nice!
My one big "option" was a drivers door fitted with a roll up window. And 13" wheels, sounds huge. Someone once said "If God had intended that car to go 100 mph, he would have given it bigger wheels (10" at the time). Looks like they did!

By th 90's it must have fuel injection. But in the 60's the engine was fitted with two SU carbs. It had a black **** on top that you unscrewed to make sure there was enough oil in the "dash pots". My brothers 65 Jag has them.

Good luck with your car.

Regards,
Red
